My anti-endorsement holds more water in this community than your praise, so my in this case being silent would have done the community a disservice. Granted, your praise would have had the same effect due to what I mentioned above.

So out of the two of us, I'm the only one who read the article. However, you saw fit to say the content wasn't worth it, while literally knowing nothing about what was written. Encouraging ignorance is not doing the community a service. My anti-endorsement holds more water in this community than your praise, so my in this case being silent would have done the community a disservice. Why have I earned the hate, Mario?
Again: Your disinterest would have been better communicated with silence. I'm assuming all the people I'm NOT hearing from don't give a shit and couldn't be assed to even read my post, let alone the article I said was worth reading.Soygen said:Not encouraging ignorance. Encouraging spending your time with more important things. You might want to start taking a cue from me. I'm basically the Mother Theresa of this forum.
I love it because its the other side of the argument that never gets represented here. I thought you guys welcomed being challenged? Seems to me like you're absolutely terrified of any information that might rock your boat, to the point where you take pride in actually reducing your information input.Rezz said:Read just enough of that article Tanoomba loves to understand exactly -why- he loves it. And then stopped because it is a hilariously biased Op-ed piece without the opposition properly stated. And then the guy thinks that video game journalism isn't infested with SJWs, when he directly quotes websites who have hamfistedly thrown out their clearly SJW mantras as main articles more than a few times. You know, like Polygon.
He's writing for an audience that already agrees with him. And they are the Tanoombas of the world.
It is absolutely true that you did everything you could to alienate people. Your conversation with AngryGerbil, Chaos and Erronius stood out because they came to you in the shaw and tried to have a conversation with you. You responded like a petulant child. Tons of other conversations went that way also, just intermixed over 2 years in the GG thread.
You can be mad at me for pointing out the hole you put yourself in, or you can start digging yourself out of that hole.
To do that though, you need to move on past your denials.

And you are in no position to say I "already agree" with him. I have been nothing but open-minded and willing to hear any side of any story. I have changed my mind several times and admitted I was wrong a few times. There's no dogmatic or idealistic reason for me to like the article. It's just a well-written article that cleanly debunks a lot of your bullshit rationalizations. You'll never know, though, since your head is firmly in the sand right now.
No, it's not correct. I've already explained why. Please enlighten me, though: What is it "obvious" that I am?AngryGerbil said:This is all correct. If you take yourself as a whole persona, and not as an immediate entity of running commentary on a text board, it becomes obvious what you are, Tan.
There's lots of subjects I'm ignorant about and therefore will not argue about. The stuff I do argue, especially the stuff that's come up several times, I am far from ignorant about. In fact, in most cases I have put a greater effort into finding and understanding all the information than those arguing against me (Sulkowicz being probably the best example).Chanur said:The trouble with this line of thinking is you are to ignorant and disingenuous to be informative on any subject.
Say, Gerb, what did we argue about anyway? Refresh my memory so I know what you're talking about here.AngryGerbil said:When I came back to this community after my few hiatus years, Tanoomba was a new face and appeared to be a sheltered petulant brat. But I approached him like a grown man.
If only someone would man up and ban this fucking idiot so we could put an end to this never ending farce.
It really is the best, only real solution. Just get rid of him. IP ban his entire region.
You're right, I don't "have to" defend myself from attacks, any more than any of the people gallery "have to" attack me for saying something they don't like to hear. We all do it anyway because we like our dopamine rush.Tanoomba, let's say, just for argument's sake, that everything you post and have posted in the past is completely correct. You say that you do it because it is fun for you, you like to challenge people, and you (probably) want to inform people.
Now let's say that I correct the people in my office every time they say that they "seen a movie" or "supposably" did their job correctly. Let's say that I even patiently explain to them every time why they are wrong, and that I just want to help them be better people. I enjoy helping people speak correctly and improving their grammar, so it is no hassle at all for me to do it, I'm happy to show them the correct path. Let's say this goes on for 2 or 3 years, endlessly repeating, over and over. They don't learn, and I keep correcting them.
Instead of thanking me, they will all think that I'm a fucking douche and start rolling their eyes every time I start my spiel, and talk behind my back at first, and then maybe even blatantly tell me to shut the fuck up. But why?! I've done nothing wrong, and can't they see that I'm just trying to help them? I can't help it if they are too dumb to understand the sacrifice I make for them.
That's with something that has concrete rules, grammar, spelling, etc. Something they can verify quite easily to see that I am 100% correct.
Now apply that to things that are just opinions. Or at best variations in interpretation, variations that pretty much only you hold, while the rest of us feel the opposite. Even if you were 100% correct as well, do you see where people would still be tired of your spiel?
But Void, if they didn't bring it up, I wouldn't need to correct them! If they wouldn't engage me, I wouldn't need to defend myself from their fallacious attacks! No, you're wrong. You don't have to do any of that. I don't correct my coworkers because I know it is a lost cause. Why don't you give up on us as a lost cause?
I already know that your answer will be, "No, you guys give up." Which brings us full circle. But perhaps that will explain why, even if you were totally correct, we could still hate you, and you could walk away knowing you had won. How about it? Walk away?
Comes to my thread IN THE RICKSHAW to complain about my posting and demand my ban. You know you don't have to come in here, right?jihodj said:If only someone would man up and ban this fucking idiot so we could put an end to this never ending farce.
