I want to wonder why it went after a house dog and not one of the millions of strays india has, but it really does make sense. An owned dog has no pack to back it up, and is unlikely to be used to fighting for its supper/life. Plus that area is clearly a contained area the prey couldn't escape from.

Sad for the owner to come out to all the blood and damage (and here's hoping the ruckus woke them up and he didn't just come out to a dead animal.)
