Thor: Love and Thunder (2021)

oh god that looks awful. it was all just jokes and scenery. And caps off with a character reveal no one gives a shit about.

i said this about ragnarok and it looks like i'll be saying it again... it's TOO funny. don't get me wrong, i love that hemsworth is able to show off his comedic chops, and there's a lot of stuff in the outer space side of marvel that is so bizarre that you just can't take it seriously so you HAVE to lean into the absurdist comedy of it all... but there was a ton of heavy dramatic moments in ragnarok that were immediately undercut by taika's neurotic need to have a joke every 20 seconds. i'm expecting the same thing with Gorr: a character that has NOTHING funny about him but all that tragedy and misery will just get lost.

with ragnarok, i feel like they could have taken out 1/3 of the jokes and it would have made for a better movie. it wouldn't be comedy overload and it would allow the serious bits to linger long enough to be impactful

The trailer for Ragnarok didn't seem at all interesting.... I have faith in Taika

yeah i think the teaser is just from like the first hour of the movie, based on the plot leaks I'd expect the second half to be WAY darker but we'll see

Dr. Strange comes out in a few weeks in May and Thor 4 comes out in July so in theory they should flow together but I dunno, all these new MCU movies (outside Spidey) feel utterly disconnected from each other with zero build up towards anything.

Its a teaser - i wouldnt expect much revealed this early on, i imagine it will have as many trailers as whores have clients so wait till they go full on cray like they have with Dr Strange.

Poster is pretty cool. Looks fun.

I have blind faith in this, the full trailer could be 2girls1cup and i'd still be in the theater opening night. don't read too much into that

Where is Beta ray dammit

Pretty neat getting to see the Marvel version of Olympus, and I'm sure Crowe will be fun as Zeus, even if he ends up getting annihilated to establish how powerful the baddie is. Interesting to see if they introduce Hercules in this, he'd be another of the major second wave Avengers along side Sersi and Black Knight. Plus he'd fit right into the comedy role of the team.

I'd love to see Hercules show up in MCU, but he would almost seem as a copy of current Thor. Hercules is basically like a frat bro.

OR... maybe he is in it. Maybe there's a scene where Jane fights Bill in the Sakaar arena and wins using her big sciency brain and is gifted the prize of Mjolnir.

I mean do we really want cameo Beta Ray Bill? I think this is another time where Taika decided there wasn't enough room in the film to do him justice. You are already doing the Lady Thor origin and adding another origin in just diliutes both. What could be awesome, is if the Lady Thor is just a one movie deal, have it end with Mjolnir getting "lost" or taking off and then end the movie with an orange hand coming down and picking it up.

Beta Ray was sort of teased by showing his head on that tower in Ragnarok along with the head of Aries.
