Top Gun: Maverick (2020)

I only watched it the one time and the sound ruined it for me.

Best Buy dropped something of a week early. Very nice.

That and the fact if you actually apply any logic to the rules it tries to set up, it gets super retarded. Like the movie says, you have to not think about it in order to enjoy it. Which is fine, but I get why people are unwilling to do that. The movie presents itself as smart, and while some of it is, a lot of it isn't.

I couldn't wait to open it.

I guess if I was smart I would have thrown it I eBay for $200, but whatever. I'll keep it for myself as I was planning to do anyway.

I got the dual set in 4K. That looks nice.

I watched this again over the weekend. Switched off halfway through to watch the HOTD leaked finale.

It's a decent movie. It confirmed my belief that they made as good a sequel as possible with maximum respect for the original, without really breaking new ground or delivering something as good as the original. But I know my love for the original is childhood nostalgia and lightning rarely strikes twice in Hollywood

Finally saw this. Surprised me. Really good and Miles Teller didn't annoy me the whole film.

My kids watched this tonight and they loved it. Honestly, it's a very kid friendly movie. They say "shit" like 3-4 times. And once the one guy shouts "fuck" when the 5th gen intercepts them. But there's no violence in this. Aside from the very few bad words, this is very kid appropriate.
Oh, my daughter is 10 and she's afraid of everything.
My son is 5. He's a little more brave, but he's good at milking pretending to be afraid. There's really nothing scary in this. Just tense with having to fly a certain way.

Watched this movie again at home, and it was just as good as the first time.

This movie is easily the best movie of the year. It is a shame that movies of this caliber are very rare nowadays.

Half the show is pretty meh (the part involving the "actors"), but the other half of the show involving the writer's room is comedy gold. Top Gun Maverick will be on Paramount+ on 12/22

This was awesome. I know I should have seen it in theatres but I didn’t so now I’m extra fucking annoyed that Paramount+ can’t even bother to show this in 4K.

Well now that you know, go purchase the 4k variant...

Rewatched this again on Paramount. This is just going to be one of those movies that when it is on, you watch it. It really holds up well to multiple viewings.

This is on EPIX for television which will get rebranded as MGM+ in a few weeks. Not sure how that will alter Amazon video options for viewing.

Finally watched it on a decent homecinema setup: top notch production, video and sound design, writing doesn't make sense but who cares, planes must fly.

Cinematography was top tier.
