For me, even as early as kindergarten with NES, I enjoyed watching others play perhaps even more then doing it myself. Friends would fight over controllers , but I always passed my turn.
Fuck no I got tired of watching my friends suck. I always did enjoy taking turns at hard single player games as a kid though. Growing up in the console age, NES, SNES, Sega, N64. We had some crazy LAN parties in the Air Force for Halo.
It's like most things really, being able to share it with others increases the enjoyment. You want to be able to talk about the things you do, that's why most of us are here. Plus watching streams can be a great way to learn things about games. Even relatively straightforward games like PUBG offer a lot of random information, thoughts, and strategies by watching streams. Places people go, angles, the way they play.
