I think this is more accurate. I'm guessing its gonna be a new "meta" or whatever the fuck. Essentially all the people who were in the top 5-10 years ago.. are still technically in the "top" they just have a quarter of the views of the .3%.. but are still in the actual 1%.
They really did build a die hard fan base that won't just disappear however... twitch viewers are fickle.

Yeah, I have a friend who amassed a quite few people during the justin>twitch days.. and fired up stream a few years ago.. I think he was doing something with OBS.. but on twitch he had quite a few people pop into his stream asking how he was doing and such. It was weird, but also wild.

In regards to competitive streaming platforms lol.. I usually just resort to "clipping" because I can't be bothered to try and be entertaining to nobody for hours.. but I use to use plays.tv like 2016-2017.. and I think around 2019/20, medal either acquired or cornered the market amongst others kinda capitalizing on the whole tiktok/vine thing.. but Medal.tv is now trying to go up against twitch after acquiring another live content platform. Chances are its not gonna do that good, but funny nonetheless.

Twitch has so much power right now... the dissidents that took the deals... are already back or in some worse platform. It sends a message.
They are flexing it big time.

The youTube conundrum is that it's ok if you are popular and move there with a deal, but it's not great to start there, because there is no real ecosystem and no tool to have such ecosystems appear.

Right. Like others have mentioned, Youtube's discoverability for live streaming is total dogshit. It basically uses the same dumb algorithms they use for the regular Youtube videos and recommendations and even if you get to the right area, the UI is pretty suck and makes it hard to even find people you subscribe to

Have any big streamers moved to Youtube without getting paid or banned on Twitch? Youtube seems mostly interested in bringing the OfflineTV type streamers with contracts and they already got most of them now. Twitch knows it is the best place to be for streamers and they dont have to offer much to keep people.

I don't think so, but why would you move for free if you know you can command a decent contract?

if youtube finds a way to have good discoverability, they will fucking crush twitch. Their streams are better, they auto archive to the website you want your vods on, their baseline sharing is 70/30

Another big thing YouTube has over Twitch is YouTube vods are there till you delete them. Twitch will delete vods that are over 90 days old.

I think YouTube would change that up real quick if they had as many streamers generating lots of hours of video every day like twitch does.
They must have a much better setup to deal with that but it can only go so far, its not infinite.

Edit:
What YouTube could do is offer some kind of easy editing of vods into an highlight reel and then post it as a video on your account.
Which is kind of already how most big streamers on twitch operate, so YouTube could take advantage of that to attract newer streamers.

Youtube has an exponentially worse community than Twitch.
That's true. Twitch chat is also very much this one thing.
But, as we ourselves are very familiar with, communities can move. Not entirely, but enough to render those left behind a thing of the past.
And new ones are bound to show up if it became the new thing.

I'm not too sure about twitch, they've been all over the place. Remember when they had that reindeer person joining some kind of council and threatening people with all the power they would have?

How was gambling ever allowed on twitch? It seems crazy to me!
Its so obvious that casinos would give these high profile streamers house money to bet... they are just billboards to make their viewers join and lose their money!

I think they already would have if they are going to do it. There are several Twitch streamers that just upload their VOD to YouTube and delete them on Twitch just to avoid DMCA claims.

Like full 10 plus hours? or highlights?

Youtube can 100% store way more than twitch. They already do!
But if YouTube suddenly became the nr1 streamer option. I can't imagine them not implementing something like twitch has for past vods.
