So Tectone did a rather interesting video some time ago on view botting and how prevalent it is and some bits of how it works, actually pulling up his and other stream metrics and stuff to show it.

A lot of botting (not all) but a lot of it is not being done by the streamer. Using his and other people's view counts he showed how a lot of game companies view bot people playing their games and favored content creators they sponsor or are well known in their gaming community in order to get more visibility on their game and make it seem more popular. The company just views it as simple advertising costs. You could see consistent spikes in viewers when specific games were played and usually at measurable times from when the stream began that were clearly not organic.

Orgs of course bot their members. I got the impression from him talking that sometimes they don't want their streamer to know for various reasons, but this obviously does happen. He openly talked about OTK doing it, and especially Mizkif doing it personally for Mizkif's channel.

The one that caught me a lil by surprise was companies doing sponsored ads would often view bot the streamer they have ads with. Once I thought about it though, it makes sense. They want to get as many eyes on their ad read and commercials as possible and using view bots to push that streamer up the algorithm in order to get more eyes on their product. If I recall correctly I think they even let Tectone know they'd be doing it.

He was rather straightforward about how it works, and if people care enough I'll go hunt for it, but he's not in my usual wheelhouse so would take some time to find it again.

Pancreatic cancer is notorious for not causing significant symptoms until it has already reached stage 4.
My gramps they caught pancreatic cancer early. He went through chemo for a year and he got the all clear, no signs of cancer for a few months. Goes in a couple weeks later for a check up and they said he had a month to live. Died from cancer 2 weeks later.

His life was a living hell through all of it because of the chemo and basically he was almost entirely unresponsive in a bed for 98% of it, and what little interaction you could get he was basically totally senile. After seeing how bad just the treatment was, If I ever get pancreatic cancer I'm cashing out and having a wild ride to the end.
