Last year someone gave a gift to a vtuber that had an airtag in it. They then broke into that vtubers house. So this isnt as crazy as it sounds to just throw away all the gifts.

that was my general assumption.
He is a strange horn dog. and i kind of presumed some chick was trying to sniff up on his junk to get some streamer presige or something, and he fell into her trap.
I'd be real curious about what happens now tho. she says she's backing down and that both folks arn't paying out.....but did he (is he) going to go after her for legal expenses? he seemed to be lawyered up from day 1 so i kind of assume he knows all the options.

Her whole story was full of elements that seemed to be in conflict with each other. Like she claimed she was "raped", but then was pissed that he didn't let her stay the night at his place.
I think Campbell had filed a counter-suit as well if memory serves, so I wouldn't be shocked if they decide to both drop suits after signing some manner of agreement to prevent future discussion on the matter.
IDK if he comes back to streaming any time soon. Most of the gigs he had going were with other streamers and any streamer that has to deal with sponsors is probably going to be wary because they want to avoid even a hint of controversy. A lot of his twitch stream viewers were people using him as an Asmon waiting room. Apparently he is still in a relationship with Mia Malkova from what I have seen, so maybe for now he is fine with that and whatever they've been doing.

remember there was an incident several years ago after airtags got big. seen several people talk about how they check any packages they get at post office/mail drop and scan for trackers.

Yeah except it's Twitch so it's a pretty safe bet that it was done out of petty spite rather than safety concern, especially considering their history with mistreating vtubers. There was clearly some sort of expectation that the gifts would find their way to their intended recipients after screening, otherwise they would have said 'dont bring gifts'.
Also some vtubers do in person meet & greets, I guess in some cases vtubing is to minimize the publicity associated with their real identity rather than trying to hide it entirely. Apparently some staff told a bunch of people waiting in line to meet Chibi to leave and she didn't find out about it until afterwards. I don't care enough to dig up the full details but Twitchcon has to be one of the least professionally ran events I've ever heard of.
