Your shield remote should turn on the tv and control sound. Any button on the remote will turn the tv on

That was not the question.

My wife , who watches tv. HATES the shield remote. The question was , have you heard of and/or had any experience with Sofabaton remotes?

Ok that's a good suggestion , I'm sure I have it around here someplace. Did you set the shield up to recognize the LG remote?

I have an LG CX and enabling HDMI CEC was all it took. I do have 2 gripes about how the shield interacts with it over HDMI CEC though. If I switch input away from the shield, it tells the TV to turn off. iIf I start the TV and it's already on an input other than the shield, the shield wakes up and changes the TV input to the shield and I have to change it back.

It will only be the TV and the shield. No other items. Unfortunately the Harmony Elite controller is too clever by half. When the shield is selected, the top part of the controller changes to finger gestures. Flipping it up is easy enough to make it go away but it is annoying. Well easy enough if you have a penis I guess, my wife cannot figure it out and calls me mad because she's fucked the TV all up. She's also off all weeks so I'll have to endure it until she's gone so I can try it and iron out any wrinkles. Thanks though guys!

If it is only those 2 devices, the HDMI CEC should work as others have mentioned. I have a receiver thrown in the mix as well, and when I power on the Shield (from the Shield remote), it turns on the TV and the receiver. When I turn off the Shield, it turns the other two off. No reason it won't do the same for you, as long as you make sure the Shield is plugged into the correct HDMI on the TV.

Hmm except I don't ever want the shield off as it's acting as my NAS with a 20tb HDD attached. Anyhow as expected the wife doesn't want me to mess with it until she goes back to work.
