I was not very impressed by the Occulus Rift. Maybe it will be better with higher rez, but idk. I really want it for FPS games, but it needs to be way smoother/faster for that.

They seem to be like the google of gaming. Instead of being interested in getting more people to see more targeted ads they just want people to play games using steam.

I wouldn't be surprised if the VR shit they're doing is more about streamlining and standardizing the process to add VR support to games than it is to build a consumer VR product like the rift.

From that article, it looks like the Oculus will be using some of the tech from Steam's prototype. I wish they would announce a release date on the Oculus retail model already!

This guy is insane or is a con artist. I mean he cannot not realize after the 20 minutes it took him to record this demo that no one in the known universe will play a 2 hours game session with this thing. End result: the only markets are amusement parks, arcades and non-game applications (science labs, military simulators). That and the tiniest niche of insane gamers.

Heh, I used to think the same thing.

Then I bought one...

The traditional Display is obsolete after being in the rift. All they have to do is solve the motion sickness aspect, and it is over.

Well if ever there was a game designed for vr it would be halflife. Halflife 3 designed from the ground up for vr support.. A person can dream.

Although I'd be careful if they add the portal gun with VR. They should just include a vomit bag in the game box

If hes talking about the Cyberith Virtualizer, then I somewhat agree.
Although it would be fun to have one, long play sessions would kill you.

The gamepad, or variation on that is still the best for fatigue. Coupled with the fact it gives you superhero like movement ingame.

Just got my Rift yesterday. Now I need to find some goodporndemos to play with. So far I'm seriously impressed with it though.
