Spend the extra money and get the Vive. Or honestly...wait for the next generation of hardware.

oculus rift would be a waste of money. They are losing a lot of the market to vive right now ( 60% of people with VR on steam own the vive)

Either way I would just wait. VR has progressed but its not there yet.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask ....

Can anyone give a few recommendations for decent-good quality cameras to capture building interiors?

I just sent back the gear360 because it looked like shit.

So still loving HTC Vive and picked up more titles off Steam various games and now the Vive store has a new sub plan where you pay $6.99 per month and get access to 5 apps per month which can grow if you stay subbed and build your library(free 30 day trial atm). Also 1 year anniversary sale going on on Vive and Steam for VR titles.

Not that big of a selection at the Vive app store, but chose Fantastic Contraption(fun) Cloudlands Minigolf VR(decent) some Domino Craft VR game(alright) Arcade Saga(meh) and TheBlu pretty cool for what it is, that whale was freaking me out and lasted only 10 seconds in the Deep. Im such a bitch in VR, bought Dead Secret and got the bad ending and it was just fucking with me sooooo badly. Uninstalled and got a refund fuck the other endings dont care....NOPE.

Well supposedly the wireless pack and the new head strap are releasing soonish, that headstrap is fucking great they have it up on the Vive site but no release date yet. Shit better not be pricey cause that shit should of came with the headset to begin with. Only gripe i have with my Vive the headstrap needs such massive adjustments when an adult uses it and then a child uses it.

Hopefully this year get some awesome shit to play really looking forward to more good times with this thing.

I finally set my Vive up after buying back in May or so last year.

I bought a used 1070 from one of the Black Belts at my gym, and spent about 8 hours setting everything up, purchased VorpX and have been adjusting settings to get Alien Isolation to work. So far, it is A: a lot of work, and B: pretty amazing and mind blowing.

Hardest part was getting the Headset to get recognized through the Link Box - kept getting the HDMI not being recognized.

Booted the machine off, turned PSU off, reseated video card. switched out monitor, reset my USB connections in Steam VR (this was probably what fixed it). It finally took.

Had to update firmware on everything.

Now I've just been tweaking settings to get Alien Isolation looking good. Head Set needs some adjustment for comfort.

The little I've gotten to play with it, blows my mind how crazy it is.

I was at gdc this year and am fully convinced that vr has arrived. Everything was about vr, as opposed to previous gdc fads that petered out the following year. And the shit i messed with was damn awesome. I don't think they are anywhere close to realistic mass production(I mean for a lot of the cool vr accessories they had there) but the tech is pretty fucking sweet now

i beta'd Star Trek VR (on oculus with touch) and its really cool and fun but it is a 4 player multiplayer game that depends on other players doing their shit correctly and after an hour its pretty damn boring. Just "ok engineer, redirect power from engines to shields... ok science guy, start scanning the system for objects... ok helmsmen, start moving the ship there..." and the captains job is really lame, mostly just looking at maps, using comms, and being able to turn the red alert on and off.

online was good netcode and no problems but everyone in the beta had voice comms and wasn't a retard, I'm sure in release you'll get kids, people who won't talk, people who go AFK, etc and that would drive me nuts. not sure you can play it solo at all.

it is probably the most immersive VR game I have played, in the sense you really do feel like you are in the star trek world. you warp around, fly around a solar system, it has impulse (within a solar system) and warp, starbases, klingons, etc. there were multiple ship "skins" including old school TOS and newer TNG-style. The weirdest thing was looking down at your body and seeing titties and nice legs instead of a hairy stomach.
