Ha, good point.

I am just a fan of VR and dont want the progress made over the last 6 years to be all for nothing. It could make a comeback but this is a sad development if true.

Yea I see a lot of industry potential for AR as a real tool. VR is way more in the realm of entertainment to me. I think both of them are going to end up being as ubiquitous as computers eventually.

For people looking to "JAILBREAK" their quest.

I dunno how long it'll work or even be up.

I don't care or play enough to bother with all that I guess.

Currently really just using it to work out, playing Supernatural.

If I do anything more than that I'll just play stuff remotely from my PC.

What's the point of sideloading content? For Beat Saber it makes sense because you sideload the song manager, etc that lets you load your custom songs. Is this how you would load games that are not supported on the Quest 2? While typing this I just remembered that side loading would let you sideload a Rift game, on the Quest? Or a HTC Vive game?

Just trying to wrap my head around it. And for SteamVR I have to either tether, use Air Link, or Virtual Desktop?

Wasn't really thinking about "Sideloading" that was just a fringe thing. Was more concerned with removing the facebook link from the device, so even if you get canned off facebook you can still use your device.

I have very low expectations for the PSVR2. Even with VR now being 'mainstream', they're going to release an expensive, wired HMD - the opposite of why the Quest line have brought VR to where it's at today.

I love the medium, just don't expect the games to be there to justify a premium HMD locked to a single platform.

Yeah I have honestly no interest in PSVR2 when I have my Quest 2 right here wireless and can also stream over my PC into my play area.

Only issue with Quest 2 is battery life but I rarely play more than an hour and a half anyway before I can just go charge it up again.

Now if it was wireless - might be a different story. But there is so much cool content on my Quest 2 with the addition of SteamVR and Virtual Desktop (Works flawlessly for me - Half Life 2 was awesome) not to mention native stuff, at the lower price point - there just isn't a reason to care at this point unless some major exclusives come out.

I thought PSVR2 was supposed to be wireless? Maybe I got suckered by unconfirmed rumors.

It's one of the few confirmed details I thought

It will connect to PS5 with a single cord to simplify setup and improve ease-of-use, while enabling a high-fidelity visual experience.

Now perhaps that single cord could be a wireless dongle, but that's more $$ on top of a high priced piece of hardware + controllers.

Until this stuff becomes a bit cheaper I kinda question the entire market for VR on a single platform unless they pivot hard.

I'd almost rather they take a generation off because I'd hate for them to Vita it and move on like so many other efforts. They'd tap out and then watch others enjoy exponentially more success doing it better like they have done with portable gaming, IPTV, game streaming, cross-play/cross-buy, game pass, backward compatibility, etc. So many things they've either led in or were first-to-market to attempt and then folded or floundered.

This is to watch very high definition porn. No way a computer runs anything good with 2x6k displays anyway.
