There never was a Rogal Dorn Battle Tank. 2023 Astra Militarum Codex comes out, and it's "always been there".
Worked the same way for probably hundreds of Space Marine kits. All the weird Flyers. Centurions. Razorbacks. Basically anything not in Rogue Trader / 2nd Ed. Space Marines. Dreadknight Baby-Carriers. Characters like Morveen Vahl, Lord Leontus. Invocatus. Vashtorr. Whathaveyou.
All the crap they invented to bloat Plague Marines/Rubric Marines/Berzerkers from singular Elite choices in the CSM Codex into full-fledged armies of their own. From Plagueburst Crawlers to Eightbound to Vortex Beasts. It all "entered" the 40K universe exactly the same way female Custodes (and Custodes as a whole) did.
Is it the most elegant solution? Probably not. But nobody gave a fuck the 10,000 times GW did it before. But now it's some unforgivable violation of the lore? Gimmie a break.
And to stress it again, it worked like that for Custodes initially, when GW changed them from just normal humans into another "Elite-Space-Warrior-Derivative" cause "best-of-the-best-of-the-best-of-the-best-SIR!!!" is just shit that sells.

This is the exact same thing that happened with Magic. They got shoved into normie spaces and and pulled in a lot of casual money, then got suckered into thinking this new, temporary audience would be permanent if they just pandered a little. The little pandering turns into full on bullshit, and then the tourist money dries up because the casual popularity only lasts a few years. This is where GW is now. They're riding the crest of the easy money wave, but it won't last much longer. They'll keep fucking the lore and increase the pace of releases until the casual market is bored to tears, and then be forced to fall back to their core audience.....which long since evaporated. It may take a decade, but it is already over. All they can do now is shit out DEI products and make as much money as possible as they throw dirt on the grave of a once prosperous IP.
It may be extended if Henry Cavil is able to pull a miracle out with his 40k show, but that too will inevitably get the Witcher treatment as they chase the modern audience into oblivion.

Just like the long term fans didn't care about Star Wars, or Indiana Jones, or Lord of the Rings, or Marvel, or the Witcher, or literally every other nerd property that has had this same treatment. Every one of those franchises is perfectly fine and not complete garbage that detonated their core audience chasing modern audience money that was never really there.

I mean, these retcons in Empire Strikes Back were ridiculus, I agree. Vader is now Luke's father? That was never ever mentioned in the original and makes absolutly no sense with what Obi-Wan said in the original. Not to mention the retcon of Leia being Luke's sisters, combined with all the woke bullshit of making her force-sensitive as well. Absolutely ruined Star Wars forever, gotta agree here.
