I own it but have been putting off playing it all the way through in the hope they'd address some of the balance complaints I've been seeing since it was in beta. Despite being a gig in size it doesn't appear that this patch did anything there.

How annoying is it really if you want to use a variety of weapons and not just all ARs? I don't feel like waiting for another patch that also may or may not do anything to gun balance.

You don't need to min/max weapons unless you are playing on the highest difficulty. Play on normal and use whatever you want. I think I had each person in my party specialize in a different type of weapon and I made it through just fine.

I found using too much of the same weapon to be really bad for ammo purposes. It's easy to get a smattering of different ammo, and easy to run out of a specific one when you're all using it.

Just started this game last week and I'm really enjoying. Seems like a great blend of BG, old-school FO and XCom.

While the ARs are the dominant weapon in the game, there are reasons for having at least one SMG and one or two sniper specialists in the group. Having one or two mele guys helps a lot, too.

Yeah, brawling is probably the most OP "weapon" in the game. Does crazy damage and requires no ammo. Give it to a fast character along with the Air Jordan trinket and he can two shot most things in game.

Think I'll have to stay out of this thread to avoid min/max hype. Right now I have four of the pre-canned players as combat medic, sniper, AR, blunt weapons. It seems to be working out alright so far.

You don't really need to do much min/maxing unless you're playing on Supreme Jerk. Ranger requires you to just not be a complete moron with stats/skills. Rookie and seasoned are completely faceroll.

Half off at GOG right now, which is tied with the lowest price it's ever been.

Most of the story is recapped, either in chat with people in the Ranger HQ or the actual intro movie itself. And really, unless you are playing on the higher difficulties, the only thing you need to make sure is to have each gatekeeper skill in the group (Computers, Lockpick, ect) and to not skimp too much on Strength so you can carry stuff.

Yeah, most of Wasteland 1 is covered/touched on enough throughout Wasteland 2 that you can piece together the events of the first game fairly well without being familiar with it. I had never played Wasteland 1, but did a brief skim of the wiki to make sure what I was picking up on was close to correct.

Bought this at on sale sometime ago, finally installed and the fucking thing crashes like no tomorrow. Every time I go to validate local files it always tells me there's one missing. I'll then restart my PC and it will play for sometime until some short time later it freezes. I'll then load a save, the game will then lock up and crash every time which starts the process all over again. Any ideas?

Have you tried completely uninstalling instead of just validating local files? Just spitballing since I don't actually have the game.
