If that doesn't work let me know and I will point you to an iptorrent release of Windows 8 that I used on my NUC that is activated just fine.
That's strange because my K400 will register from the next room over through a wall.with the Logitech K400 and sitting like 15' away from the NUC. I'm lucky if 3 / 10 keystrokes register. Really need to look in to getting my Harmony to work with it.
I'll check it out since it has been mentioned a couple of times now, but I'm pretty much just whining about the initial setup. Once I get everything going it won't be much effort at all to keep things straightened out. If I download 5 (non-porn) movies in a week that's a lot, and TV shows work as soon as I put them in the right folder, so it's just me bitching at the up front workVvoid
you could use ember media manager to scrape your library and create .nfo files for xbmc to use. not sure how your files are stored but if they don't have a .nfo in the directory it shouldn't affect your seeding.
Glad to help, no you can't kiss me.Windows 8 validation worked perfectly, so that's all squared away.
That sucks, hope it started working for you again once it cooled off. Not sure what is up with the BIOS but there is obviously a problem with some of them being set way too hot. Doesn't sound like everyone gets it, but no idea why some would be set differently.Good jesus, middle of typing this up went to reboot it because I read Vvoid's issue about temperature, sure enough the damn box was hotter than hell. Reboot and now it is stuck in an "No boot filename received, exiting Intel Boot Agent" look where it won't boot off the USB stick.
It did not start working, but I mean really the onlyreinstallnecessary was to reflash the USB stick and rescrape the NAS, so wasn't too bad. Next quota check I'll probably just buy the mSATA SSD and go that route. But it was absolutely too hot to hold. Oh, and the K400 issue was resolved, was using the laptop dongle (duh) and replaced it with the CPU dongle and it works flawlessly. Going to keep tinkering, but still want to hackintosh or legit get my Harmony fully working. The fiance would appreciate it alsoYeah that's the first thing I did too (well, after installing Win 8), specifically because I had read about the temperature issue. Temp was still set at 78C after the update. Just the 15 minutes or so that it took to install Windows and locate the BIOS update raised the temperature to "almost too hot to hold in my hand" levels.
Mine is much, much cooler now that I changed it myself.
The Plex 2 runs Roku quite well so the 3 will also but neither Roku (at this time) does MKV's well.I built my Plex box or HTPC out of azboxAll I run on it is Plex, I do have xbmc on it but I have a QNAP NAS 469 Pro that is running the Plex server on it. I have all my dvd's/b-rays ripped to the NAS and just stream them through Plex. I tried xbmc but ended up sticking with Plex, just liked it much better. I do like the option of slinging my Plex data out to the web and can watch my media on my iPad/iPhone while at work or on the road.
I also went withthiskeyboard/mouse combo for it, works much better than the included one.
Was thinking about getting a Roku for the bedroom instead of building another HTPC. Was looking at the Roku rev 3 if anyone has any experience with it. Just want the Plex part of it running.
Well, that sucks, I ripped all my stuff to .mkvThe Plex 2 runs Roku quite well so the 3 will also but neither Roku (at this time) does MKV's well.
Yeah there is a log file, they can walk you through it. It's a little bit above my skill level if its individual movies and not the entire install.Still running in to errors playing different movies with Openelec and the NUC. Not quite sure if it is a network problem or a particular encoding issue with the files. Certain movies will play perfectly fine, such as a 1080p rips of Batman Begins, a few other reference blu-rays with quite large file sizes. Then I get to this version of Django Unchained, and it crashes every 10 minutes, and this copy of Evangelion Rebuild 1.11 completely reboots XMBC when it tries to play. Guess I'll have to post on Openelec's board and see if there is a debug or log file that would capture what happens when it crashes.
