1008 mb "extrapolated" at sea level now.

And 969 in the fuck err suck err 69 zone. Gusts hitting right at the low end cat 3, which the scale is all so stupid anyways. It is a Cat 2 by 1mph atm and it is usually always the case in one way or another which is why I appreciate how NOAA still does it in general.

160mph now. Showed a pic of I-10 at the LA/TX Border and it was bumper to bumper crawling along. Rain in New Orleans now. Edge just hitting Baton Rouge and Gulfport MS right on the gulf. Next update they expect cat 5. Not as large phsyically as Katrina was is one plus.

Looking at Baton Rouge traffic. All traffic flowing I-10 west out of town at 60-75mpg, Same for I10 East. I55 North out of Hammond is 70+ and cams show clear nearly everywhere. Of course at this point where in the hell are you going to go.

Predicted here shows winds of 70mph and rain of 6". 400' elevation between a river and a lake so not really worried with flooding on a hilltop. Luckily my parents had their trees trimmed Tuesday pure luck when someone could make it out after looking for a while.

I think google maps traffic is drunk. Showed from Baton Rouge to the TX line in just over 2 hours. No freaking way even with zero traffic. Least amount of traffic advisories I've ever seen across the entire state of Louisiana. Only for places in New Orleans where they have the flood gates closed. If you had enough gas you could have waited to leave right now and got somewhere in a hurry.

Mom went to the store this morning and just got back of all things. Said it was a great time to go to the store. Only 6 people in the store. Nobody on the road and she went under I-55 and it was totally clear just over an hour north of New Orleans. Said they had everything including ice, but no bread of course, probably not getting deliveries.

Will check this later just to see if the camera is even still working. Should be interesting to see how flooded that street gets

Power starting to go out in New Orleans. Saw the west bank was having some large outages.

Found some traffic, I-55 just north of the LA/MS border. Went to McDonalds to get breakfast. I-55 traffic was light, next door is a truck stop. Pretty heavy traffic getting gas and most had a LA licence plate. It's a long way up I-55 to get to anywhere you would want to stay. Not Jackson, not Memphis. Take I-20 to Dallas and such if you had reservations I guess.

It's sad I have to come to FOH for news. I have youtube tv for random tv shit that gets shared among 3 families, and it doesn't include any weather channels. Went looking at local news channels this morning (I'm in south Florida) and all they talked about on all 3 I checked was covid.

It's looking like a solid hurricane. I've gotta imagine it's going to flood the shit out of the swamps with the spin pushing water right up the bay. Also looks like Biloxi is going to fucked, much like with Katrina, even though it doesn't really look like it.

Mobile, AL already getting tornado watches.

Rain predictions, difference between good side and bad side of a hurricane. I used to live for a short time just south of Hammond almost on the lake in Ponchatoula, LA. I can't imagine that much rain. They took it bad during Katrina.

yo, i still have this gay ass storm shelter in my garage

am i gonna eat crow thinking this thing is just taking up a parking space?

i survived kansas tornados and repair bills, but idk about hurricanes
Hurricanes are pretty gay compared to tornados. They make a lot of noise and people panic buy all the water and batteries in the path of them, but usually the damage is limited to a few trees knocking over onto house and a couple poorly built houses getting destroyed. More than a dozen miles inland your basically fine unless a tree might fall on you or your house is built in a deep river valley and you forgot flood insurance.

Tornados at full force will fuck up even well-built places hardcore.
