To be fair, biblical angels literal descriptions are pretty horrifying. I suspect there's more going on here with that though - there's clearly some very weird shit going on with their world.
Well yeah, I know about the angel stuff, and that's something to consider, but that's us, here in the real world, making those connections. And even here we cheat and depict them as beautiful people with wings because no one wants to see what a real angel would look like. But in the world they live in, not a single person thinks their gods are completely fucked up?

I know, if that's all you've ever known you tend to just accept things and not question it, I get it. But damn, those things CAN'T just be normal gods, there has to be something else going on. Otherwise, as an author, why depict them that way at all?

12 Miles Below just finished Book 7 on RR, probably my favorite overall of what I’m following. Love the setting still and I thought I might start to get tired of Keith, but still going strong.

Another couple of recommendations from the last couple of months :

Sky Pride

This one is a cultivation story with the MC as a crippled kid that survived an assassination attempt and has grown up living in a garbage dump.

A bit more thoughtful than the typical quest for true ultimate power™, with some humor around his lack of social skills and inability to understand metaphors or subtext. Mostly played pretty straight though - no special hook here, the main appeal is that it is just really well written, with interesting characters and world building.

Low Fantasy Occultist

Title is a bit misleading - this is an isekai into high fantasy litrpg world - the low fantasy part was that the protagonist was an occultist on a very low magic Earth, and is used to there being almost no mana and needing elaborate ritual sacrifices etc to get even basic magic done.

This one is definitely the typical quest for true ultimate power™, and the MC is kind of a calculating sociopath, but I've enjoyed it a lot.

Given prior complaints - trigger warnings : there are no gay characters in either of them. Childhood friend in occultist is a furry, but no relationships etc.

With a name worthy of a c-grade budget anime, and a degree of creativity that can be fairly summarized as 'Overlord, but a chick', this story really should have been an easy skip.

There's only one problem though - it's really good. Enough so that it has spawned dozens of imitators on RR.

I guess it's an example of the execution sometimes being more important than the premise and originality.

Rather than being entirely about the OP MC flexing on scrubs, the story is moderately laid back, with the MC finding various problems that can't be solved by the application of overwhelming force, some that can and some that can, but probably shouldn't be ( like annoying bank tellers ). Honestly, it makes the actual flexing on scrubs scenes have more impact.

I enjoyed it a lot.

There's no sex, romance, or romantic relationships, but the plucky cat-girl probably counts as a furry.
