I had to go to a specialist a few months ago for a knee issue and he told me right now a lot of the medical journals are saying crossfit is causing a lot of injuries.. Just saying... I have no solid facts. Just what he said. Incase anyone is considering crossfit. May want to research it.

Has no one mentioned insanity yet? Intense workouts but there's a good emphasis on stretching. You can do a quick workout and still burn a ton of calories if you can keep up with the people in the video

Anyone have some suggestions for a person coming off of a shoulder injury? Most of my working out over the last 6 months was strictly climbing. I blew up my shoulder about 2 months ago and can finally get into a little bit of light exercise, but my range of movement and strength is still pretty much terrible with my arm.

I know I can sit on an elliptical or treadmill and work on cardio, but I just can't motivate myself to get into my gym and only do that.

a good way to balance hormones and increase insulin sensitivity (and really just to optimize health) is to eat a quality high-fat diet plus some starchy carbs after a workout so your cortisol levels don't go through the roof.

I had a shoulder issue. My doctor just said really light weight and take it slow. Seems to have worked for me with limiting myself to dumbells

After my shoulder was rebuilt it took a good 4-5 months to get it back to 100%. Stretch early and stretch often. Use the rubber band resistance cords and do lots and lots of reps. An average workout during rehab was about 500 reps with the cords. Pull top to bottom, bottom to top, straight across, behind the back and in front. Even with 5 pound resistance, enough reps and it ends up a tough workout. I was able to get back 100% range of motion and my strength back.
Good info. I don't have the time to spend at PT currently since I work during most of their office hours, but my gym has some pretty good equipment, and I'll probably pick up some dumbells (1-5lbs) for home as well. +nets for the encouraging words!

Just curious, but has anyone who said they were trying to lose weight in this thread actually made any progress?

I don't think I said anything, but I've dropped a few kilos over the last month or so.

Not going to the gym or anything, just running every other day, basic home exercise program and a few dietary changes. I'm hoping it'll be enough to get me back down to where I was 2 years ago before health problems and a generally shitty lifestyle made me put the weight on. If not, I'll invest in a more intense exercise program, mate of mine works at a gym and said p90x is the way to go.

Best thing on the market is p90x. You can pretty much eat anything you want and still lose weight if u do 1/2 of the videos. Im not fat but I did gain weight in college. As soon as I got out I did like 2 rounds of it and have maintained it for 3 years. I have recently starting doing some heavier weight lifting and trying to gain weight (muscle weight).

I've always found low/no impact excersize like an excersize bike or elliptical machine in my home is the most likely thing to keep me working out regularly long-term. Put it in front of a TV or a computer, download several seasons of a show you've always been meaning to watch but never have, and ONLY allow yourself to watch the show if you are excersizing. Works pretty well. When I got hooked on watching The Wire and then The Sopranos back around 2006 or so I ended up losing about 40lbs working my way through all those shows over a couple months.

14lbs and still haven't done any exercise. Found a gym so will be starting that this week. Prob would if been down closer to 20 if not for some free days around the holidays. But I keep my sanity that way.

That's exactly what I'm doing. Fuck guests! Moved the couch and put this bitch right in front of the tv. Got a roku and a netflix subscription for christmas. I haven't watched much tv over the past decade or so, too many mmos. Have all sorts of shit catch up on. Starting with Breaking Bad.
