Most women don't like hugely muscular freaks anyway. You're doing it to impress the other dudes at the gym and no other real reason at that point.

I think you're 100% right. When I was still teaching I had an "academic body." I wasn't overweight, but I was flabby. No muscle definition. My wife and I had a lot of sex. Now I'm doing more physical things by choice, including some working out. I'm quite defined at this point. 6'2" at 175 and absolutely no pudge anywhere. My wife and I still have a lot of sex. It hasn't changed. Just like her pre-children, pregnant, post-pregnant, and menopausal doesn't change my attraction to her. My wife is happy that I am healthier, and so am I. But if I bulked up with roids or whatever she would be very unimpressed.

Today is the lightest I've weighed in over two years. Still been keeping up with walking during raid nights 4x a week for on average 3 hours. Did a 5.5 hour walk Friday night. Started adding the gym on non-raid days. 30min on the bike and then pick 5 arm weight machines and do 30 or 50 reps at low weight for now just to start out, depending on the machine. Feeling pretty good about it so far. Was at my heaviest ever last August at 232 and now back down to 211. Saw the body fat % start with a 3 for the first time since I've been measuring it. Long way to go, but happy to see some shitty numbers start going down.

Anyone recommend an app or something just to log weight machines? I'm just writing stuff in a note, ATM, but it would be nice to have something more organized so I can track progress over time.

I've always been a bigger dude but I've been just watching my diet and doing some light exercise to try and get a little healthier in my old age. I officially dropped 100 lbs this week since May last year.

Both of you are awesome! It isn't about getting ripped, it's about being healthy, and you guys are doing it. Good for you!

Seems you already picked up the wyze, but I was also going to suggest the Samsung watch ecosystem if you haven't looked at it. Watch can do body mass/body fat scans and they have a number of third party scales that can work with it's app. I started using it just for sleep/step tracking but have slowly started using it lately for weight, BP, and body stats.

Currently fighting my body's seemingly inherent desire to be at around 230 lb, and around a 34% body fat percentage. Barrel chest type body, so I carry it all in my torso, which I am also told is the absolutely unhealthiest place for your fat. (Curse you lucky bastards shaped like Grimace!)

Decided a month ago to start cutting weight in prep for the whole colonoscopy thing. Turns out when you're tracking your calories every day and weighing yourself every day you come up with some surprising information. Such as -morning prior to prep 209, morning after prep 207.2.

I don't know how much shit I was expecting to be in my body, but I thought for sure more than 1.8lbs. I guess I can definitely tell everyone that I am, in fact, not full of shit.

Then, getting kinda bored of eating 1800 calories a day, just said fuck it, I'm just gonna start lifting again, and just maintain and turn this shit into muscle. Turns out I'm way more enthused about eating 2k calories a day and a 400 calorie protein shake on top of that. So I think I'm just gonna keep doing that instead. Weight loss is lame

Why the colonoscopy? How old are you. Any concerns about the procedure?

I've read up on it too much and don't like the idea of it

45. About due for one anyway

The reason is I keep getting blockages somewhere in the upper area of my intestines - like from stomach to small intestines. Once every 2-3 years, no matter what I eat or how well I'm doing, just happens outta nowhere. This time was a blockage after a fucking omelet on Easter morning. I ate, grabbed the dog for a walk and didn't even make it around the corner before I felt it lodge. Super painful next 12 hours until I finally gave in and went to the hospital. My Dr said we should probably go in and check it out, see what the issue is. Apparently I have some "erosion" in the lining of my intestines and referred me for surgery. Nah, thanks, not chasing scar tissue with more scar tissue. I'm good

It's fuckin fine. No issues. Even the prep was fine. My plan was to not eat for 2 days instead of the usual one. Super happy I did, because the prep was basically nothing.

The prep sucks but the procedure itself is really a non-issue unless you're one of those masochists who wants to be conscious. You just go to sleep and wake up and it's over.

The concept is gross but really important, especially given the rising rates of early-onset aggressive colon cancers over the last few decades.

No such thing as a good vice.

No, I just mean as a hardcore soda addict for 30+ years, I've got none of those issues or cause for concern. I assume the colon cancer increase would have hit me if it was. My bet is on the super processed foods I've been steadily removing from my diet for about as long
