Yes. But getting to a healthy weight first is going to make exercise a lot easier, and getting to a healthy weight has immense health benefits in and of itself.

Don't understand the point of this. The exercise is only "easier" because you're moving less weight around and therefore not exercising as much. Unless you're so big you can't get out of bed, there's no advantage to NOT exercising

If you are super turbo fatty even mild exercise can result in injury. Definitely do both, and as soon as you can, but if you can only manage one then diet should be the focus. That is what will get you to your desired weight with or without exercise. That's all.

Walking is okay, even if you're a super whale. Can make a few kg of muscles if you're on calories deficit, high protein and walking decently. It's a good place to start, and if you have 100 pounds to wait, you don't have to wait 6 months to start. And if you just want to be healthy and live long, and have some spare time, walking only is probably fine. Walking + gardening is probably a very very good combo, if all you're looking for is a long healthy live.

If you're a mega lardo you want to start lifting as soon as you can so you can get those sick leverage-assisted starting squat numbers, tell the ladies "Hey girls I squat 585 and bench 65"

Depends how strong their knees are and how super whale we are talking about. I got friends who are 6'3 and 300 pounds and still play sports... albeit kinda slowly. Other people are about the same size and struggle to get up out of a chair. The joint injuries are because you don't have enough strength to actually absorb the impacts of walking and/or running, so your joints just take a beating (plus the weight).

Whether a turbo fatty can really exercise at first or not is probably going to be person specific. As with all things, they would need to listen to their body.

They should probably stop listening to their body, because what got them into that position is listening to their body say "Cheetos and ice cream" 24/7

Haha, well, agreed there. I mean listen to their body if they are feeling joint pain beyond what you should feel from walking/running.

You know how some people say things like "I feel better after a good run"? Turbofats have never said that.

sick leverage-assisted starting squat numbers
Fatties get hosed on squat numbers! They should be based "total weight lifted in excess of lbm".
"Weighted vest? psh, get on my level! my weighted vest is 200lbs and I never take it off!"

So, I don’t know how scientific my Apple Watch/Apple Fitness tracker is, but it’s giving me an average of around 2500-2600 calories burned per day, including a 30 minute bike ride.

What caloric deficit should I be at in order to lose weight, bearing this in mind?

3500 calories per pound, so do the math on how fast you want to lose it to determine the deficit you want. Also keep in mind if you go into too much of a deficit you could cause muscle atrophy. Most places recommend 1-2 pounds week so 500 calorie deficit should work.

You kinda need to pick a calorie number and try it for a few weeks and see where your weight goes. If your total burn is 2500/day, then I'd try to eat 1500/day for 3 weeks and see how much weight you lose. Weigh yourself every day and do a 5 day moving average.

You will be able to tell what your actual energy expenditure is by how much weight you lose at 1500. If you're losing too fast or you're feeling like shit eating that little, then adjust.

If you lose 2 pounds per week, you're in a 1000 calorie deficit. If one pound per week, a 500 calorie deficit. You'll know how big your deficit is by where the weight number goes. Track it daily.

You'll also never actually hit 1500 calories accurately if you don't track every single thing that goes in your mouth. Use an app like myfitnesspal.

Using my Samsung watch and grok to count calories has proven to be as accurate as you can reasonably expect. Tracking for 1 month got me a deficit of about 12k calories while my balance showed about 1.2 kg of weight lose.

Pretty ballsy to attempt to hide true nutrition facts while serving a demographic obsessed with macros/calorie counting. Better strategy best left suited for pizza roll enjoyers

You don't have to lie to the pizza roll people. They've never read the nutrition info anyway.

I’m not super obsessed and I’ve never heard of this brand but a quick google seems to show they claim to have 28g protein in a 150 calorie chocolate bar?

That like the protein content of a chicken breast lmao

For a junk food bar usually I aim for 10:1 calories per gram of protein that’s almost double it
