So much better than eating 1500 cal a day at 4 bills and not losing even a smidge.
You were 400+ lbs., consuming 1500 cal/day, and losing 0 weight?
Some large fraction of the population only takes a shit every few days and considers that normal rather than the medical emergency it actually is.
1-3 days for a bowel movement is absolutely normal and not at all a "medical emergency". Unless by "every few days" you meant 7+? Most of that is attributable to the massive abuse of opiates in this country.

Literally everyone who isnt taking a daily fiber supplement needs to start taking a daily fiber supplement. Regardless of weight or weight loss.

I have UC and I can tell you that fiber isn’t always the solution... just like everything it’s not a one size fit them, some people can really get sick because of them.

It’s another variable that’s worth playing with if you have digestive or auto immune issues, but it can go both ways.

That being said you're defitely statically more right than wrong for the general population in the western world and especially in the US.

Can't speak for the shit habits of others but if I don't go every day I would assume something is wrong. Don't think I've been multiple days without taking a dump since I've been an adult that I can ever remember.

Pretty much the first thing I do after waking up every day. No need to wait for the coffee.

Well listen, we are in the weight loss thread on a gaming forum known for being highly "irregular". Its no wonder people talk about weird pooping habits as if they are normal.

My biggest question is how long does everyone have to remain polite to the obvious liar in a serious thread in the "grown up" section?

In the grown up section, instead of saying "obvious liar", we'd say he's mistaken or incorrect. Instead of personal attacks, just discuss the facts as stated.

And I believe a bunch of us already called out the impossibility of what I think you're talking about. That is the correct way to address that in the grown up forum. If there are repeated just impossible stuff than I'd entertain a trolling charge, but I do not think that is what is going on here. People who made it to 400 pounds usually WILDLY underestimate how much they are eating so it makes sense to me that he'd THINK he was eating that, even if he's not.

People can be wrong without it being malicious/lying. Lets default to that here.

So, we haven't hit the threshold yet? Despite the diatribes? Got it

No, and we're not going to have personal attacks in here regardless of the threshold. If you see something you don't like, report it, and we'll decide.

There's a reason the grown up forum exists. People will be allowed to discuss in peace.

I get it, I asked a serious question instead of doing something "roundabout" and petty like acting sanctimonious and calling people failures for using glps.

And just to be clear, if there is a distinct pattern of behavior, and it is devious and malicious, it is very adult to call them out on it

I’ve skipped a couple days on poops before when on very low calorie diets. Your poops also tend to get very hard if you do, so I quickly learned to add fiber.

While that is clearly true, I do think that people underestimate how much metabolic downregulation is possible and the impact that that can have over time. The "average" BMRs that people cite were not measured on people are have been almost entirely sedentary and morbidly obese for multiple decades. Dropping your metabolism 5% is like 100lbs in a decade.

Okay, but then how do you explain this guy:

The available evidence points to Angus Barbieri's weight loss being roughly linear (or near-linear) over the full 382 days, with a steady average rate and no reports of major slowdowns that would contradict a simple straight-line trend on a chart. If metabolic downregulation is at issue, wouldn't his weight loss rate (this guy was eating NOTHING) change over time as his metabolism either got more fucked up from not eating or got better as he lost weight? Seems odd given this "downregulation" idea that his weight loss was fairly linear all the way down from 456 pounds to 180 pounds.

Every single time someone has actually monitored what obese people eat rather than relying on self-reports, they are eating absolutely massive fucking amounts.

I guess anybody could be the one that violates the first law of thermodynamics, but I doubt it.

Khane Khane you see you can address what you to believe factually incorrect or impossible things without name-calling.

That small adjustment in metabolism could net a 100 pound gain in 10 years? Scary to think about. My metabolism is definitely way down since my 20s and I have a few years in a row where I simply didn't exercise. Thankfully, I also wasn't drinking then so I think that helped.
These days, I'm arguably more active than ever but still not losing the size/inches where I want, lol. Talk about ironic.

My $0.02 having no idea what you look like or your age or weight... I'm ~50 also, and I don't think my BMR has changed since my 20's. People's activity levels change, though, and in your 20's while you were out moving shit, doing sports with your friends, going to the gym even when you were tired because who the fuck was ever tired in their 20's... your natural activity level was probably off the charts in your 20's which resulted in burning a lot more calories without trying.

As we get older assuming your hormone profile has remained similar, I don't think your BMR really changes much if at all, but we do spend a lot more time resting/sitting/whatever just because we're old fucks.

Studies bear this out also.

Also, I don't see how people don't adjust what they're doing/eating before they gain 100 pounds over a decade. It's not like that just sneaks up on you. If you gain 10-15 pounds do you not go "I need to change my habits/do something" ??

Well, how much downregulation do you expect him to have? Also, he was probably still more active than your average morbidly obese person today.
I mean, are you literally saying that downregulation is a myth? Do you think we all have equivalent metabolisms? and that they don't change throughout our lives?
