one of my friends, that i have known since before we learned to drive. will not go across the dividing line. if he was the bottom left car, he would back out of the spot the drive around, instead of just pulling forward. once we came out of a late movie, there wasn't a car in 40', and he started to back up. i asked why and he said something like, doesn't feel right.

I bet if your friend lived alone he'd still shut and lock the bathroom door every time he took a piss.

That’s a pretty retarded take
My standing theory is... If I'm parking somewhere that when leaving I will want to load shit into the trunk (Groceries, Home Depot, whatever) then I pull forward in. Otherwise I back in. At home both cars are backed into the garage (detached 2 car) because the way our driveway winds around the side of the house it's just easier to pull forward getting out.

As for if backing in is "stupid", I have engineering proof it isn't. One of the most technically adept customers I have in the O&G space, if you go to their HQ, you have signs telling you that you HAVE to back into parking spaces. Because if something goes wrong at the HQ and people have to evac it's been proven to be faster and safer to pull forward to get out.

Some good reasons to do that though. Could be a curb or short pipe/post sticking up that might be hard to see for some reason. I've seen places that had signs sunk in 6" concrete filled pipes, but the signs were long gone, so you just had some random concrete post sticking out of the ground a foot or so... too low to see from inside your car and easy to miss while walking up if it's dark offset just right. Also, if a car or walker/bicycle comes by, being predictable makes whatever retarded thing they're doing less likely to intersect with whatever retarded thing you're doing. People do some of the dumbest shit imaginable in parking lots.

People who back into their parking spaces instead of pulling in forwards like a goddam normal human being.

It doesnt inconvenience me. It doesnt impact me in the slightest. But still, fuck you.

Why? Not "why fuck you", I'm explaining that. I mean "why do that?" Literally ever other driver in the parking lot pulled in like a normal person, then pulled out like a normal person, and everything went fine. But you, my "I'm smarter than everybody else", you had to literally do it fucking backwards. For what? For no goddam benefit at all. You're still backing up, retard. And backing up is basically no more challenging than driving forward in the first place, so what the actual fuck?

Just be normal. Just do fucking normal things. Fuck.
Pretty I have this exact rustle in this thread a ways back.
I'd go back and look but search is probably still broken. There's another common rustle.

one thing that gets me, 1 way parking lots, people enter (top right) and will see a open spot on the bottom rows and try to sneak around the wrong way.

I'm still fighting a Chase card one, so good luck! Hard mode: The late wife opened it up on me, didn't see it until after she died as she never missed a minimum payment (/sigh) and I only check my credit info before borrowing money, but I pay cash for everything but houses now lol.

After Nikki Haley gave away my info when she was Governor of SC, and the equifax breach, AND the UHC breach my credit is 100% frozen. And it's a good thing too, I get letters in the mail every so often to unfreeze my credit so they can process "my" request. Max rustle!

Yet another retarded take by aldarion. It's safer to back in than to back out. You have a better field of view. The absolute best is to pull through though. The fact that everyone else pulls in forward and backs out is a stupid argument because people are morons.

As long as it's not angled parking and one way aisles.

The biggest idiots are the folks in pickup trucks that back into their space at Home Depot or Lowes and come out of the store with a couple of sheets of plywood. Now what? Then there's one guy down the street who backs into his garage. Must smell great in his house.

Spoken like someone who's never bought lumber. The biggest idiots are the ones who drag it all out to the parking lot and don't use the loading area.

this picture is rustling my jimmies pretty bad. I mean must be a target parking lot because this looks like a lot full of female drivers who can't park straight for shit.

but also, the concept of one way lanes in a parking lot with straight parking spaces? I mean I get it if it's angled for 1 way lanes but everyone busting a 90 degree turn to park what the fuck is the point of one way lanes?

If I were worried about my workplace blowing up or some shit like that, or there was so much traffic when I left that it sucked to try to reverse, I'd back into my spot, of course. But barring those situations, it just seems pointless. Assuming no traffic, you're trying to tell me that it is vastly easier to back into a spot between other vehicles than it is to reverse into an open lane wide enough for at least one vehicle to drive in, sometimes two? I'm not saying it is difficult to back into a spot, particularly with everyone having cameras all over now, but that just means backing into the aisle is even easier too.

I know I've got older cars, but my backup cameras don't see left and right. So while you are backing up, a moron speeding down the aisle won't be seen till it's too late. And that shit will be your fault no matter how fast they were going because you were backing up.
