Little over 2 weeks ago cat was so sick I feared we would have to put him down. He's gradually been getting better and better. Today my wife went to get a shower and he starts crying cuz : cat. I open the door to my game room and call to him. He comes in the game room

We recently took a few days out of town for the first time in a while. A certain someone is absolutely sure horrible things will happen to the animals (all self paced feeders, all able to self pace watering, dogs with an enclosed and climate controlled patio that has an always accessible doggie door built into the wall.)
But sure enough we get back Sunday to discover that the climate control on the patio (a window unit that resides in a custom cutout I had them put in when they built the patio room) went out allowing the patio to get over 95 degrees Saturday afternoon...

Listening to the local radio station... Tom Petty's You Don't Know How It Feels changed the lyrics from "let's roll another joint" to let's HIT another joint. Seriously? Why? It was bad enough when the Dire Straits Money For Nothing lines "the little faggot's got his own jet airplane, the little faggot's a millionaire" got entirely scrubbed. What the hell is wrong with people?

I agree, why? You seem to be implying it's because rolling a joint is unacceptable while hitting one is fine. That makes no sense. In this case the lyric change seems more like a lateral move.
