I clicked on the thread seeing it had been updating thinking maybe Shatner had died. It was just what popped in my head. Seeing it was Patrick Stewart was an unpleasant jolt. It was always going to happen but I sure as fuck didn't think it would be today.

This one hurts. I actually had the pleasure of meeting Sir Patrick many years ago. He was gracious, magnanimous, and deeply committed to finding the best for every person. His acting was very fine, I was lucky enough to see him on stage in a Shakespeare production in London. He was the defining person of Star Trek for so many people. Might seem like a silly role, but he made it epic. How many of these do you recognize?

There are four lights!
Someone once told me that time was a preditor that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time was a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again.
What we leave behind is not as important as how we’ve lived.
To be alive is a responsibility as well as a right.
Buried deep within you, beneath all the years of pain and anger, there is something that has never been nurtured: The potential to be a better man.

If my Dad hadn’t already passed, he’d have been very sad to hear it. I used to watch TNG with him as a little oneThis one hurts. I actually had the pleasure of meeting Sir Patrick many years ago.
