A bit late but didn't see it mentioned. So, sad news for all of you 80s B-boys out there.

Saw him at a comedy club before his porn tape fiasco. It was a damn funny show, he was raunchy as hell.

he was big in the music industry, but yeah, drugs are bad ,, mmkay.
But that is what's messed up. The drugs were the icing. When he was this scrawny young super producer, he already was "off" is serious ways. Spectrumed. Absolute. He is like a Howard Hughes type figure. He was functionally nuts, then he just went plain nuts.
That fucking goblin
epitaph quality, right there.

Thinking about poor old Phil Spector. He was an innovator -- a classic American inventor in the classic sense. Yes sirree. But the man's entire life has snapshots that are never "normal."

In a sense, a genuine American story. An entire era encapsulated. And my view is, that makes sense. I am not certain I would trust any American, whose life involved anything from ww2 to today, whose life story would be titled "This was a Great Time!"

The US is weird. That's the secret to being able to stay sane in the US, imo. This place is always filled with crazy shit, always has been. I hear the WW1 generation was no picnic. Then you got Dust Bowls. I mean, come on. "Dust Bowl." And now we basically willed out of very thin air, a PANICDEMIC. Why? WHY the fuck not?

That's my take. It keeps me afloat. So RIP Phil Spector! An American Pioneer!
