I can't understand the others, but the FoF is a perfect example of giving the average Joe in central America just what they want. A cheap, hot, quickly made fish sandwich with no frills. If you like those options, it fits the bill really well. Especially enjoyed if you like a little fish with your tartar sandwich. None of the main fast-food joints makes a better option so if you're stuck in rural Nebraska, this FoF is here for you.

The FOF actually came about because of Catholics. In the late 50s early 60s they were still on the whole no beef on Fridays, so the manager of one of the stores came up with the idea to offer a fish sandwich to keep business coming in since they were getting slaughtered. He had to wrassle Ray Kroc to get it approved, but he won and it became a regular menu item permanently across the US. Thanks YT for teaching me this wholly trivial fact.

I completely reject the previous suggestion, "its cause people want fish sandwiches but theres no fish in the midwest". Source: fish sandwiches are basically not a thing outside of McDonalds. Nobody wants a fucking fish sandwich. The market has spoken.
But the Catholic Friday fish thing, I buy that.
Of course none of that explains the aqtual question at hand: why a nominally human person would voluntarily order them

I ate my fair share of FoF as a kid, but I also grew up in a family that almost always had pickled herring as a mid day snack. We would also eat whatever perch or sunfish we caught. Fishing seasons were all about stocking up as much walleye as possible to last off season so we didn't have to eat the lesser crap.
Concur on Culvers though. I still eat their fish or walleye when available.

I think the only time I've ever had a filet of fish was during Lent when I was going to private Catholic school as a kid. During Lent we always ate fish on Fridays, and the school cafeteria always served fish, typically fish sticks.
We were traveling somewhere and needed to get something to eat, it's one through McDonald's, and my dad ordered filet of fish for everybody. I remember it being okay but I haven't eaten one since then. I know my stepmom used to enjoy them.
My bar with fried fish is just sit so high from growing up in New Orleans eating po' boys. Kind of hard to get me to be excited about a preformed fish Patty from a fast food joint.
The nice thing is we always typically got boiled crawfish on Fridays for some other type of Cajun seafood, but then again we had boiled crawfish couple times a week during season.
That's also the reason you have Friday night fish fry up in Minnesota and Wisconsin. All my family's Catholic and anytime we're up there, you go to the Friday fish Fry at the VFW or church hall or whatever the hell. Now I guess a bunch of restaurants just do it, but a good supper club is where the best fish was. It's all because of Catholicism.
The best is if they've actually got walleye on the menu.

Ive had the Mcribb a couple times and it's terrible.
Mcd fries are good and I don't mind the Bic Mac but everything else isnt good. would only eat anything else if it was my only food source.
Edit- what ever breakfast sandwich my friend gets isn't bad and their coffee isn't bitter so I'll give them that
