They must have gotten the same idiots that developed the Teams UI to do Windows 11. There's a whole ton of "duh" missing from Teams and the pieces only start to make sense when you assume it was made for mobile first and PC was an afterthought.

If it's anything like when I was still at google, a lot of this shit gets put in because it is the path to a promotion. So you get designers turning single clicks into 2-3 clicks to have promotion material. It's beyond stupid

Windows ME. Ahh, the memories.
Did tech support for Telstra Bigpond (largest Oz isp) when that was a thing. Completely broken network stack. We copped so much abuse... was a very heavy drinker back then. =)

This is probably EXACTLY what happened and was the exact reason the Win 8 UI was so fucked - they developed it with Windows Phone in mind.

Couple things I really like about startallback. 1st, removing the taskbar where there are no icons. Second it brings back the old sound selection menu. Plus you get to keep anything you like about Windows 11. IE: I actually like the new start menu.

Explorer Patcher for Windows 11

Best solution I've seen so far to "unfuck" a lot of the Win11 UI changes. Author recommends retail/stable builds. Obviously a new Windows build could potentially break it.

Among many other things, it returns a fully functional Windows 10 taskbar, including the ability to drag/move it to any side of the screen, label support, drag/drop shortcuts etc.
Importantly for me at least, it doesn't appear to break Start11, which I can't live without. (unlike StartAllBack)

Still not migrating full-time to Win11, because ultimately I'm hoping MS themselves will replace what they removed, one day...

Got a new PC last night, and the Start Menu/Taskbar is a huge step back from Windows 10. Thank the gods for Explorer patcher.

Thank fuck for start back is all I can say

Also, this whole "remembers window position with multi monitors" doesn't seem to work with mine, presumably because my main monitor is the slowest to wake up?

I can't even do a fresh install of this BS b/c the i7-7700k isn't supported. Replacing the appraisers.dll or whatever didn't work either. So I guess it is just back to Windows 10.

Is there anyone that's even remotely happy with Windows 11? I'm building an effectively new computer and wondering whether to put Windows 10 latest build or Windows 11 on it.

Not a single issue with Win11 here.

Gotta put it on for the brand new Intel CPU.

I love most of the Win11 comments here - "Win 11 is great if you remove a bunch of bullshit!" - Man, really selling me on it!

All the Win11 stuff sounds almost EXACTLY like the Win 7-8 years. Windows 7 was fantastic, 8 comes out and is a pile of shit, but you had plenty of people telling you, "OMG, Windows 8 is great if you just remove X, Y, Z and make it more like Win 7!!"
