The idea that just changing your OS saves you from being 'tracked' is some supreme midwit nonsense.

You willing to turn off your email? Get rid of your cellphone? Caring specifically about whatever nonsense hardware ID Microsoft is keeping in the vast see of data that exists about you is just weird.
I would at the least like to remove what tracking I can from my life, sure. I'm not going to just roll over. I understand I am being tracked through other means.

I don't really think what I said is that midwit nonsense. I'd say not caring about it all is though.

All you have to do is create a gooey using visual basic so you can't be backtraced. Perfect anonymity.

Is Windows even a blip on their radar so to speak with the other stuff they make money on? And obviously not gaming now.

Speaking of Microslop. My monitors started acting really weird the last couple of weeks, all kinds of animations and noises that I didn't want. Unbeknownst to me Win11 decided to install the LG Monitor App on it's own without any input from me. Might be time to finally switch to Linux, this is not the type of shit I want in a PC.

They currently have a debloating initiative called K2. Their goal is for Windows to be at gaming performance parity with SteamOS in 2 years.

They have brought back the ability to indefinitely delay automatic updates (it needs to be refreshed every 35 days, but it can be done as many times as you want without the system eventually forcing you to update), and they are also doing a ground-up rewrite of the UI compositor to improve performance

There are some nice Start menu improvements coming, but it's been slow.

But for a lot of people, it may be too little/too late. I have already migrated my laptop onto Linux, and I am (slowly) preparing to move over my desktop as well.

I'm going to build a new PC in the coming months and would love to ditch Windows. Unfortunately, my kids use the computer for doing some of their schoolwork. As a test I put Linux on an old laptop and let my son use it. For the most part it was fine, but there were a few apps he couldn't launch from the school portal. Sucks
