I had a MacBook pro for a previous job and it was the nicest laptop I've ever used. I actually had a windows VM for the few things that didn't work.

I had a 17" Mac pro when they used intel chips so you could dual boot and loved it. I still have the disc drive in a USB housing for the 2 times a century I need a disc drive. This was during the Vista period and Balmer's baby made a lot of people jump ship.

Yea I vaguely remember my VM being Windows 8

I took it with me to a security intro course (as applied to electricians ) near DC where it said you had to have 100% windows. Another guy who could not read I guess was trying to use their software through VM and it would not work. Everyone was looking to me but I'm like fuck that man I'm 100% dual booted. While they were trying to fix his shit I took control of the camera and started looking around the room. Also , ewwww Win 8. I 100% passed on that shit. Tried a beta on a spare machine on it's own HDD. When I could not even figure out how to turn it off I googled it on my main rig , powered down , removed the HDD and never turned it on again.

IIRC at the time it was all work would give me a license to. Either way the MacBook rules.

Yeah, I remember the project. OS/X86 I believe it was called. Considered it for a while but seemed like more trouble than it was worth.

Also, I hate the macOS desktop environment. Can't stand it.

But, I will say, seems like most software developers prefer the Mac. I'm on Linux now, so I definitely see that stance from a *nix point of view.

Well MacOS had the terminal like Linux so it was almost Linux adjacent

Looks like it does a similar job to "Winhance" which is what I use. (after an initial Titus/Microwin installation)
A great feature in Winhance is the startup Task Scheduler scripts than check for background re-installation of things like OneDrive/Edge etc after major Windows Updates, and rips them out again automatically. Unfortunately MS still persists with these old shenanigans.
