Ok.... Kimengumi High School? In 2026? What's going on? I saw the '80s anime on TV back in the days.

Also, odd idea to finally make an All You Need Is Kill anime movie, considering it has almost no shot at being better than Edge of Tomorrow.
The All You Need Is Kill novel is a lot different than Edge of Tomorrow as well. They're probably just going to make the anime true to source, as opposed to creating something new entirely.

I checked that all you need is kill trailer and the art is absolute dogshit.

Not for me

From the trailer it looks like they are making Rita Vrataski the protagonist, kind of like a prequel before Keiji even enters the picture.

Does anyone here watch Gundam? Tbh, I used to really dig it back in the late 90's and early 2000's, but I haven't seen it in 20+ years. I'm trying to see what yall think about good places to rewatch: Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam Wing, or is Gundam Origins any decent?

I used to really fuck with Trigun. I read the manga and loved the 1998 anime. I even recently re-read the Manga for maybe the first 7 volumes. I tried watching the modern reboot of it and really just couldn't with how they turned Vash into a Gen Z fuckboy in anesthetics. Hoping Origins is not like that.

Holy shit are you right. The art style is horrific.

Jesus christ, it looks so bad. WHY. This studio can do better. What in the everliving-DEI-christ happened.

i've watched maybe 80% of the animes and movies (the mangas and video games are a whole nother point of cannon)

i haven't watched the latest gquuuuuuuuux, mainly cuz i'm tired of gundam and reboots
you do know there are many different gundam universes and thats why you can reboot (wing is one of them called the AC: after colony)
do you want to watch better reboots or keep on continuing w/ the main universe of msg (called the UC: universal century)

so lets get on w/ UC, gundam origins is good, if you watched msg 1979, this is the prequel (timeline wise) and it follows a certain character (it's an alternate UC, but still all the same characters in the UC, another one like this is gundam thunderbolt, it's good especially if you like jazz i guess)
other good UC
8th ms team
0080 war in the pocket
gundam zeta (or z) follows right after msg1979
if you really want to be completionist you can watch gundam zz (it's a bunch of filler, a bunch of all over the place and nice mecha)
finish w/ chars counter attack
gundam unicorn

in that order, and timeline i guess, ppl would probabaly rank unicorn way higher, gundam zz would be the worst of it, and there are like 10 more ova/series in the uc i don't even mention cuz they are dogshit

if you want reboots and different universes

gundam 00
iron blooded orphans
seed

Thanks! I appreciate it.

I tried Gundam Origins today and the hybrid CGI/anime stuff (that a lot of modern animes do) is something I don't like. Trigun reboot also tried that and I also didn't dig it. I think I may just try starting it over and watching it chronologically since I prefer that older style animation, similar to Akira's anime style.

I knew there were different Gundam series, and each one is just limited runs, but I didnt know they were entirely separate universes/canons.

yea for instance, the UC, in order for super bases and mechs to fly it uses the minovsky particles

in 00 its the gn particle

in ironblood orphans its the ahab particle
etc

i don't think wing had a particle, they just said big robots, the red one has unlimited missles and the black one has a giant scythe, suspend belief

I honestly don't remember that part but it's been 20 years since I've lasted kept up with it.

I remember one of them using Gundanium Alloy harvested from the moon.

yea thats wing
sometimes gundanium alloy just lets you make big robos that fly or gundanium alloy is what defines a gundam and why it can sustain 1billion damage

I wonder what the economy is like to regularly manufacture, repair, and operate these insane machines is like. Similar to Zoids Chaotic Century where basically sentient animal mech suits are living in a post-apocalyptic waste land that is unable to sustain them but never mentioned in the show lol. I mean, Mad Max does the same shit so requires a suspension of belief for spectacle.

oh the uc gets into that, you learn about anaheim electronics and this and that yashimoto heavy industries or whatever, cuz if gundams aren't getting blown up, you start talking about company aquisitions

Gundam Wing, 00, Seed were all pretty great. I think I was the only one round these parts who liked With From Mercury. It's a huge fucking universe though. Still waiting for the series of Netflix movies to wrap up, because I really liked Hathaway.

IBO is particularly great. And depressing, which is why it's so great.

Just watched E1 of Gundam 08MS (1996) on my lunch break.

Story is pretty engaging. Art is excellent. Limitations and physics of space are pretty accurate, which is unexpected but appreciated.

08th MS Team is my favorite because it's incredibly grounded (figuratively and literally) compared to most of the series

My introduction into Gundam was Wing on Cartoon Network. As a result of Cartoon Network, the ONLY way I can watch Wing is with English Dub. Everything else has to be subtitled. Then I purchased all of the DVD's as they came out from Suncoast Video. Then also the Endless Waltz movie. I got into 08th, also buying DVD's from Suncoast. Then when Seed came out, I watched that and also Seed Destiny. Then a little later Gundam Build Fighters came out, and that was all about gunpla (the gundam models). Then they had Season 2, which was Build Fighters Try. Season 3 was Build Divers & 4 was Build Divers ReRise. I got my kids into those 4 seasons, and they have loved gundam ever since. My daughter has a few of the gunpla that her grand parents would bring over every time they visit us from Japan.

Ok it's sort of understandable because Uraraka is a 16 year old girl and all but I really don't fucking care that she feels guilty about Toga's death. I don't give a fuck about Spinner either, why the fuck is the government wasting time and precious resources saving him and Toya when they're going to be executed for their crimes anyway?

Except Horikoshi is such a faggot that they aren't going to execute Spinner and he's going to get to sit in prison writing his stupid ass comic about Shigaraki even though Japan has the goddamn death penalty.
