If I had a choice I would go 100% PC, and never look back. It's such a vastly superior gaming experience now.

For you forum bros without a PC hooked up to your living room TV, the steam box is shipping in November for $45. It streams games in your Steam library (you can add non steam games) at a very respectable quality and extremely low input latency. I played/beat Dark Souls 2 whilst in home steaming with Steam if that gives you any indication as to the performance.

If you do have an old machine lying around, the specs don't have to be beefy -at all-. The PC I use in my living room is a nearly 10 (yes 10) year old Dell that my father in law was going to throw out. It does struggle with max settings 60 fps at 1080p in newer graphically intensive games, but it's almost as old as WoW so I cut it some slack. I just had to buy a cheap $30 graphics card with an HDMI out to hook it up to the TV.

Did you miss a digit there or something? Steam Machines website starts at $475.

Curious to see what you're talking about for $45 if that's not a typo if you've got linkage. (Since I do have decent machines but would love to stream straight to the TV if able)

Pre-load is up on GOG with the Galaxy app. 26 gig download. Be careful the achievements are viewable and they contain spoilers.

So I have decided to buy the PC version. I have to find my DVI to HDMI converter, and will run Digital Optical to my receiver in my theater room. And play using my wired Xbox Controller.

Quick question. I will be running Digital Optical from my Soundblaster Z to my receiver. Once I configure that in my software, I should be able to switch on Dolby Live for simulated 5.1 surround correct? Will be running at 1080p on a 2500k OC'd to 4.5 Ghz, 8 Gb Ram, and a GTX770. Hopefully should be able to run at higher than normal settings, or get better than what I would on a PS4.

Yes, somewhere in the Creative software there's an option for Dolby Digital Live and DTS Connect (might be called DTS Interactive). DTS >>> Dolby btw, and I've never seen a receiver that supported one but not the other.

Awesome thanks for that. I would have gotten hung up on changing output from SPDIF to Speakers.

Now I just hope that 1080p in high settings on my PC will look better than the PS4 version otherwise I may as well just have gone with that.

BTW, something I recently discovered (even though it's apparently been a thing since 2013

) is that there's a workaround for people like me who use onboard audio, but have one of the motherboards where Gigabyte, etc. cheaped out and didn't pay for DTS/Dolby license fees even though the Realtek chipset on the board does support it. You can get a modded driver DLL that you can use instead of the stock one, and it will unlock DTS Interactive and Dolby Digital Live for your system.

So, I'm trying to play through #2 right now. Is there a point at which the pace kicks up a bit? Just saw the giant tentacle at the first town. Having a hard time keeping an interest in the game so far and kinda glad I'm getting 3 for free since I picked up a 970 card.

Just bought it on steam. For some reason it is cheaper to buy the game + expansion dlc separately compared to the Witcher 3 + expansion pack deal. Guess that's because there is a special rebate on the Witcher 3 from owning 1 and 2? Odd that it doesn't tie in to the bundle too though.

Also used 15 of my flex hours and got the 19th and 20th off work. 1am on the 19th!

The first game was quirky but awesome story wise. Old now though. I found 2 to be over rated and I had to trudge through 3 or 4 attempts to finish it.

It says 1PMEDT for me on Steam.

Kind of annoying since for some reason the PS4 version unlocks at 7PM EDT on Monday.

Edit: NM, apparently Steam's countdown is wrong and it's 7PM EDT Monday for all versions of the game.

If you don't like it by the tentacle monster I'd say no, it won't pick up for you. Witcher 3 may also be boring too unless you like sandbox games a lot.

I hope Witcher 3 has more cars, and tracks. Witcher 1 and 2's combat was really missing power slides.
