You need to talk to the owner of precisebits.com (think and tinker)So, I'm gonna drop this here since it's what I'd consider "woodworking adjacent" , it's about using a CnC.
I plan on picking one up soon, probably something in the middle on size build plate range (like 20"x20"). But the real endgame for me with it won't be woodworking, it will be graphite working. Has anybody around here done work with a CnC where you had to be cognizant/in control over super fine particulate dust coming off it? I'm debating a shop-vac with a shoe for around the router bit and a bag in the shop vac, but want to make sure I get the right bags/etc to handle graphite powder as it's conductive and will right and proper screw shit up if it gets into stuff.
It's very useful if you're mostly doing small work - say 24x24 or less. They just came out with a docking system that will move it around like a small cnc so you can automate some tasks. It's slower than a typical cnc, but you can "program" on the device's screen without a PC for many simple tasks. Better buy cases of that domino locating tape it uses for spacial locating. What do you think of that "hand held" CNC Router? I have used it at a trade show a few times, its quite awesome...
My work bought a CNC but then returned it (never set it up) - for space and lack of use... I told them to get one of the hand held cnc router things as it is a lot smaller (router size) and can do "CNC lite" type things...
this thing - shaper origin.
I used it when it was a cobbled together kit that looked like a normal router + bunch o stuff - then a few years later their custom made rig as it is now- each time it worked quite well and got better and better.
Bandwagon wtf is the process where they smoosh the map on to their relief? It looked like from the video they’re using a different material than you, i.e. not wood, but thought it was interesting and thought of you.
It definitely bends, but it doesn't tear. Its some kind of plastic that gets heated up and draped over a mold, then auctioned.I just figured the topo would stretch and tear so it must be a special print. To be fair I just got out of surgery so am scatter brained![]()
