Oh friends I have touched a table saw blade… ofc doing something wrong and dumb… it was…not fun. I am lucky I have my fingers.

After careful reflection and examination of the situation, the product, and the results, I have come to the conclusion that this is what happened.
His piece of wood looks almost exactly the same as mine.
This new saw is a Craftsman 315. Apparently it comes with a splitter and a blade guard, but they were so horrible that most people took them off and never put them on again. This one is no exception.
Now I've been using table saws for a long while 10 years as an adult, and I learned on one of these when I was a kid. I honestly don't remember whether my dad had the splitter on there or not, but I've obviously had a riving knife and pawls the entire time I've been an adult. So, really, I thought I knew what i was doing because I had modern safety equipment the whole time, and I got complacent.
So, looks like the cut was done, it wandered away from the fence, and it kicked both pieces back. I was using a push stick - the mark on my arm is not blade contact, even though the above picture makes it appear so. I caught that piece right in the push stick arm as it was thrown back. I'm really happy it was that piece too - the other piece also got kicked and hit something (unsure what) and it fucking snapped in half, and it was an inch and a half thick piece of walnut.
I'm sure I'm gonna figure out what it hit at some point in the garage. But anyway, ordered a shark guard splitter and pawls for it, they'll be here next week. Saw is in quarantine until then.

I figured that. The arbor is metric. Belt driven saws with cast iron tops are still superior to the bullshit I had.

I don't use any of mine because it's impossible to see where you're cutting. Never had a problem.
This was 100% the problem of not having a riving knife.

Small pieces of wood are dangerous on table saws-- that is what mine was... I was also being very dumb, but it was kickback, it twisted, hit the fence then shot out away from me as I was pressing down (yes...) with my thumb, pointer and middle - that then the pointer and middle found themselves into the blade..., it was merely flesh chunks and nail - it could have been way worse lol... Didnt I post pictures? I should find them again heh

Thumb barely got any, it was mostly pointer, then a bit of middle - its mostly the side/tip - can barely tell now, the biggest part healed up a bit dented and there is a "scar" that is just a lighter color stripe on the finger.

When I worked in Dubai, we had a table saw in the workshop. One of the Egyptian guys mentioned that his brother was a wuss when it came to blood, so anyway we mixed up some paint and put it all over the blade and spun up the saw so we had a nice spray pattern on the wall, then his other brother (yes, there were three of them, lovely guys but nutjobs) called in the wuss. I've never seen anyone faint so fast in my life. He was not happy when he came around, but his brothers thought it was hysterical.

Everyone else's router sled seems to finish way smoother than mine does for some reason. I've got pretty significant differences in the height of the passes that I've never been able to figure out. I made it out of 3/4 MDF, can't possibly be flexing that much

I'm stuck in this infinite loop of renovating the garage, but the tools are in the way, move the tools but also I need too use the tools to renovate the garage. Now can't find tools. Where did I move them. Fuck this I'm building a rolling tool cart out of a broken chair I have.
Also can't find my second drill. I'll need a third. Which is actually fine by me.

My garage situation is a nightmare. Prior to this year, the entire garage was my shop with all my woodworking and 3d printing gear arranged nicely, with plenty of room to move around. Then I got a new car this year that I want to keep in the garage. My table saw and bandsaw are on wheeled bases, so I can move them around, but it's turned into a constant pulling car out to do any projects, move 2 thousands lbs of shit around on their wheels, move it all back put the car back in. Not sure how long I can keep this up, but I really don't want to put the car outside all the time.
