I don't understand why Roy insists on playing so many Liverpool players if you're not going to try to play like Liverpool. Spain tries to play like Barca, Germany tries to play like Munich, etc. Gerrard seems to have no real role and is just lost out there as he's not being given the ball ever to dictate play, instead its like he's just there to shield the back 4 which he's horrible at. Henderson is then having to sit next to Gerrard which again isn't how Liverpool do it and he's no where near as effective when he's not out running and pressing. The whole setup is just comical.

Edit: Also Welbeck is terribad, no fucking way should he even be playing as he can't control the ball worth shit. I feel bad for any England fan having to watch this.

c'mon Suarez, get your hattrick!

Here's the issue I have with England, they've never met a ball that they couldn't pass backwards. Watch Gerrard and Henderson in the second half, hardly anything goes forward unless it's a massive punt.

Question for people who follow soccer:

How strong are the national teams compared to the professional teams? I'd imagine the national teams of strong countries are stacked with stars, but would the teamwork of a professional team that plays together more often outweigh that? Basically is the World Cup the highest level of soccer?

Actually, that is quite the opposite. Rich clubs are stacked full of stars. They essentially are cherry picking the best players from all nations and fielding a team of them.

Take England for example. Really exciting league, absolutely crap national team.

I would say a Bayern/Real Madrid/Barcelona team would absolutely destroy most national sides.

National teams does have the players playing for the nation's pride though so they often are more fired up for that*.

*England seems to be that rule though
