Teleport hack and steal all the mining nodes/herbs, thus controlling the entire consumable economy.
That gets banned rq if in open world.

The real hacking was walking above the world and open chests in instances.

You could see all the hackers with level 45 toons in scholo doing that shit non stop, just run in and position above the instance and open chests for blues/epics/formulas. Same in dire maul with the books.

It seems unbelievable, but apparently the undercity elevators they had to turn off the teleport detection due to how the map works, so people sit in the elevator and teleport to mine/herb nodes out in the world.

This is just what I read on the internetz so it could be wrong, but I think the things you're seeing are exactly the same teleport/fly hacking.

I haven't played since original liche king, and I don't remember any of that stuff being around. That's crazy.
Blizzard doesn't really ban hackers either, or the hackers make enough real money that they just make a billion new accounts.

In classic you'd see conga lines of hunters or mages clearly being botted, there'd be like 30 of them. If you report them, they'd mass report you and get YOU banned, while the hackers continue unabated.

Blizzard is worthless as always.

I guess I just never saw that on my server. I mean you would occasionally see a bite just running around and to nodes, but that was the extent of my experience with it.

Two different issues, they're leveling their bot accounts in one (where you see the conga line of mages running to wherever), then they instance farm certain chests or things where you'd never see them. They do this to farm gold to sell.

The second issue is the teleport hacking to get mine/herb nodes. They then sell these herbs/minerals at inflated prices to farm gold to sell.

That's reddit clickbait. Its not like when you report someone it sends them your information so they can retaliate.

How would the botters know you reported them? Come on man....

Could be. I've seen similar stories posted many times though. Now that you mention it, it could be when they attacked the bots rather than reported them. It's been a while.

People who kill bots and people who offer lower prices for boosts are the ones who get reported by bots and gold farmers from what I can tell.

It happened to me.

I spent a few days on the Anni server on my rogue stealthed near various warlock summon bots that would spam sell summons to duke hydraxis for 5g and would just open trade with whoever they summoned instantly cause their bots were slow. 9/10 the person getting summoned would just hand me 5 gold and hit trade.

I ate a 2 week chat ban and got an official warning/report email from Blizz after the bots all figured out what was happening and mass reported me. My rogue is still blacklisted from all the warlock bots to this day. Totally worth it.

It's so funny how organized some of those jaja folks are. They take hits to their cash flow pretty seriously lol.

I really don't pay attention enough to know what is going on with the bots, but I have a buddy that will hunt down and report/fuck with bots like he's some racist sheriff of Pixelville. He knows all their schemes, movement patterns and where they are. This all started years ago when some bot yoinked a mining node from him. Dude just won't let it go.

As for TBC...

2007 TBC was the peak of my sweaty balls raiding.

Did TBC classic up into tier 2, but once the covid bullshit ended so did my classic raiding.

Two of my friends I've been playing with since the beginning have grown kids now that want to play TBC and find out why their dads ignored them all those years ago.

I don't think I have it in me for a third go.
