DBG v THJ was probably a wake up call to them that they need to be proactive in defending their IP.

I still don't care, this was a net loss for everyone regardless of what side you are on. If they were so worried about their IP they wouldn't have ran it into the ground themselves.

Right now, WoW for me is the "comfy local diner" of gaming. Is the food the best in the world? no. Are you going to get the latest and greatest culinary delights? also no. Is it nearby, do the staff all know your name, and can you get a burger the way you like it? Yeah. Do you have a lot of friends who also eat there regularly to shoot the shit with? Also yeah.

I get this, I really do. Which is why I sometimes watch garbage 'slice of life' anime. But I just can't get behind the progression loop in modern WoW, and even if I could, don't want to support the current company. The pendulum is swinging away from activists in game companies, but there's still a few major companies that need to bleed out first, and Blizzard / Bungie are some of them lol.

There is no possibility that Paradox would ever be more creative or have more manpower than the 600 people that work on the Kaiserreich HOI4 mod or the GOT CK3 mod, but they all do it for free. And that specific mod drives people to purchase Paradox games.

Hour of Twilight, a very unique usage of WoW's client, isn't something that Blizzard would have come up with, nor would they dedicate the manpower necessary to risk that endeavor. If they properly licensed the technology platform, they might be able to get more eyes into the game.

Because right now, every year, there are less and less people playing the game. It has had the same customer base for twenty years (the exact same people, just they're in their 40s now). Its not going to get better.

Even without the gearing WoW is nice just for collectors. it's literally the perfect collect everything game.

Blizzard can't come up with a patch that literally doesn't include at least 2 new fucking currencies for doing the same shit you were doing except now it has a new name and it has 50 bugs on the most basic things.

Finally....

After a mere 4300 or so fish caught...

And dragged up an epic transmog on the same cast.

My IRL friend who had never played WoW before, (only reason I started again) hard quit when he finally saw the Mythic+ timer/keys/loot vault/ratings game-play loop for himself (among other things).

Over the course of several weeks he went from "loving the world, the leveling and discovering new things" experience to "W.T.F... this is it?" almost overnight.
I eventually thanked him, i'm free again.

Did you get that in the green pools up north? Other than Blood Seekers, none of the other Midnight fishing triggers (treasure chests, pools, etc) fire for me up there, even with a blue rod with perception enchant.
Yeah, the green pools.

I found you can avoid all blood seekers by simply doing a /sit before you start fishing. You can't "cast" the blood hunter summon when you're sitting, it fails. So you get the fish, without the fight. I kinda tried to perceptionmax, My outlay :
  • Blue rod (no enchant)
  • Green quality fishing hat
  • Haranir Phial of perception
  • Crystalline Phial of perception (from Dragonflight)
  • Sanguithorn Tea
  • The Ghoulfish Delight from War Within (I have tons of that due to the fishing derby down there)
Then just before maintenance last week I find out there's a note in the patch notes about "Enabling perception to work with fishing". Apparently +perception items didn't do shit before a week ago. I had 3700 fish caught when that patch when in. Then suddenly I'm never catching gray crap, getting 2x catches constantly, fished up over half a dozen of the weapon transmogs, and then finally got the egg. All within around 600 casts since that hotfix. I can say even before the patch I had gotten chests up there, but I think in all my fishing I may have landed half a dozen chests total, so they're super rare for me. The green pools are the only place you can get the egg in open water fishing, everywhere else you have to get it in a chest.
