Also who gives a fuck about dungeon xp. I want to go back to a time when I played for fun. Min max because you’re polite to your group to not suck but at the same time not be so autistic to obsess over a single piece of unoptimized gear.

Yeah I am pretty sure I want to play the RP rules... just can't decide the faction to play since there is so much new stuff.

I am going to run the beta on my macbook to see how it runs though. Nice that it runs natively I guess.

I’m am almost assuredly doing LoZ OoT before I jump into this. I’ll be behind but I don’t care if this is what they say it is. It’s gonna take me forever to level anyway at my play rate these days.

Horde all the way. Cow-bear. I always found the chase items for feral to be fun, especially tanks. Will be curious to see how that changes with all the new re-itemization.

I think the issue is that new blue sky elves are showing up out of left field. Isn't the point of this to be a re-imagined version of vanilla WoW? If they wanted elves, why not just add High Elves for the Alliance and Blood Elves for the Horde? Both of those races have long ties to classic Warcraft - all the way back to the RTS days - so they would fit the retro theme perfectly.

Instead, the blue sky elves seem like a lazy race shoehorned in to boost microtransactions and box sales.
Extra revenue from the leftist player base.

What are the odds that class are revised so there are many more viable options, like they did in the seasonal stuff? It wasn't just about stacking 12 warriors and then 1 or 2 of each other class. Lots and lots of fun specs in SoD from what I remember.

I haven’t looked at the talents in the past day or so but the first one I saw still had holy shield at 30% block. Removing crushing blows is still going to make for tough itemization for paladins.

They stated at one point during some panel that they want to shake up the meta, and they don't want class stacking as bad as it got with warriors. They just need to adjust the rage gain scaling with gear which they might've already done. Plus they can actually make balance changes now. I do hope a bunch of people roll warriors though and then it turns out that they're a tier A or B DPS. Rogues and mages should almost always be top or close to it imo, as the pure DPS classes, followed slightly by hunters and warlocks.

"should" is an important word there. For some reason, Blizz liked it when hybrids were better tanks, healers, and DPS than the pure classes/specs. Guess time will tell? Agree on Rogue, Mage, Hunter, Warlock being in the fight for top DPS since that's all they can do. Healing mage was a cute idea, but sucked. Warrior, Shaman, Druid, Paladin, Priest would be DPS tiers below, but not shit.

I mained Shaman back in the day and while I loved playing Resto and the class in general the changes to Enhancement are absolutely badass.

Enhancement is focused around 2H now with loads of talents to support a rapid Stormstrike playstyle. 8 second CD stormstrike increases you nature dmg and the CD is reset if you parry or dodge. Since HIT and CRIT are singular stats now and not for spell or melee this will be huge. Additionally it has a lot of talents that synergize between melee and spell dmg. Like Maelstrom weapon so you can let it get to 25 stacks then burst out 5 lightning bolts with no cast time. Lots of mana regen synergy too.

Enh looks quite viable for 5 man tanking too and has talents to support it. This is long before we have any idea about itemization so while Warriors will be strong this will not be World of Warriorcraft Vanilla at all. I suspect Rogue will be way stronger in DPS than before too.

Shaman tanking looks challenging with no shield if you go 2h, not a lot of avoidance, and no aoe threat abilities or taunt. But I suspect they're planning to support it with gear so we'll see.

You can use shield/1h. I have no intention of tanking on Shaman outside of 5man. Its just something nice to do to make leveling and grouping easier a bit. Flame Nova is a spell now rather than a totem and Earth Shock/Rockbiter produce a lot of threat. So you can create threat but have no hard taunt. Which is just one of the several downsides you'll have. As a "tank" that can poison cleanse, disease cleanse, purge, reincarnate, break fears, slow mobs, etc would be too much.

The idea is with rockbiter on and using Stormstrike with baseline 8 second CD into any parry/dodge that resets it so you keep slamming stormstrike/earthshock and maintain high threat.
