Honestly the blizzard of old is the smartest way to run an industry… see shit people like, steal it, polish it, present as your own.

Heard some fags crying they stole stuff from turtle wow or some gay emulator bullshit… good steal it all if it’s good, steal from all places and put all the good in a pile and sell the shit out of it.

Is there a way to launch this without battle.net? Seems like battle.net will only run with proton experimental but I wanna try a local compile of V10 I did awhile back. I am timing out loading into game and I think it is just because my machine is old and shitty, but I can adjust the timeouts in my own compile.

Probably not. If it's an online game it has to launch through their launcher, and you have to log in through battle.net.

To be fair, Forever is the same subscription as retail and classic wow. If they really wanted to be greedy they could have gone the Everquest Legends route.

You can still sign up for beta and there's a chance to get in, and streamers are giving keys away.

It's a beta you don't gain anything other than finding out what's broken and hoping it gets fixed.

Which reminds me fox pets are busted can't use beast training on them so while they have an awesome ability it's useless currently since they can't be trained.

I am about done with the beta. I want to check in periodically to see if they get the graphics working for M4, just need to tweak my addons a bit more.

Were the addons you listed for Mac, or applicable for anyone? I'm ignorant to how they are coded; ifs its by operating system or just the game.

Applicable for anyone. Wow runs lua script. The OS its on doesn't matter.

With monsters and memories you can do this and just login when you launch the game.

I thought you could just launch the wow .exe through steam to launch the game? By adding it as a non steam game. You used to be able to do that aawhile ago.

(I assume you're talking about running it on Linux.) You can set it up to do this through Faugus Launcher which is what I do. That said, running it directly without going through the launcher will cause it to crash whenever Blizzard runs updates.

Yay I'm back in!

So I guess when I got it, I must have installed battle.net and just left it running. I played 8 hours or so and then crashed and the next day battle.net wouldn't start.

I had installed the game on a ntfs drive and the permissions got all weird and it wouldn't even recognize it. I moved the game onto an ext4 ssd and fixed the permissions to mostly 644 as it should be, and fought with battle.net for hours... Never could get it to relaunch.

But, battle.net works fine if you just run the installer again. I have no idea why. I ran steam from command line and saw another problem, a missing file that I just used touch to make a zero length and bam that let it run with my custom proton I built with arch native.

I'm back in bidness!
