I have a bunch of short comedy skit ideas I need produced. How will I ever get to move ahead with this with this strike happening?!

If you're serious, the strike is actually a GREAT time to try and get that material out there. Many show runners, producers and executives will be taking that time to pour over old material and new material so when the strike is over, they have a reserve of content. I know I'm going to be spending my free time writing a lot more of my personal projects.

I would expect web content to get suspiciously better during the strike...

How does one get an idea pitched for real?

Depends. TV or film? Procedural or serialized? Network, cable or streaming?

Generally you need to have two things. A decently written and topical script (no Lost spec scripts thanks), and know someone that can literally hand your script to an EP or showrunner with a recommendation. Generally, the writer won't actually ever meet the producing team until long after it has had eyes on it and is semi-approved (unless you happen to have experience and already know these people). Producers and showrunners have specific assistants they task with reading scripts and making notes on, who will then pass that script and those notes along if the assistant deems it worthy. They do sometimes get handed scripts from friends, but will NEVER read a script that is mailed to them or passed along by someone they don't already know and trust. Those end up in the blue bin.

And like you have to sit in a room and bullshit with moneymen in some pointless ritual. Because hollywood is the sort of town where no one wants to EVER burn a bridge, EVER, every idea that you've ever had is the best idea they've ever heard.

Trust the check. Nothing else. Sometimes don't even trust the check.

Over the course of a year, Kevin Pollock actually painted a fairly detailed picture of how that process works. I dunno how accurate it is. And i'm sure there's a lot of bias even in these people trying to be honest about it.

This is so incredibly true it hurts. Nevermind the fact that the second you are out of that room, they either A) Forget you exist or B) Laugh hysterically at what a fucking moron you are. And you know they do that and will still do that same process over and over and over and over again.

I've got this idea for a super hero movie. But you see, he's a gay super hero. And he's got a 13 inch dick. And he just runs around town sucking off random dudes in bathroom stalls.

It's less of a drama and more of a porn. But I think netflix is ready for that.

We could do the whole thing with found footage, if that helps.

I've got this idea...
You ready to deal with the realities of Hollywood? Here you go.

"We already have a project that is very similar in development babe. Thank you for your time and we really appreciate you babe. Have a great day babe and I'm sure you will do great! Also, sign this NDA about discussing our development. Don't try and secure funding or you will meet our lawyers. Ciao Babe! Call me!"

Swingers implies I'd bring someone. What you were describing is a different word. I forget that particular fetish. Someone help me out here.
Not sure what do you call it when you are getting an idea pitched to you over sex? Monday?

I want Jericho back. :(

Conan and Jon during the strike were great. I would love to see Conan improvising again.

Health care costs going up is just a fact of life since pre-existing conditions were abolished. The Republicans say they're going to bring them down but I wouldn't bet a penny on that happening.
