Very interesting thread. Thanks for the news.

So, Scream, have you worked on any shows that the board follows? No names, just curiosity. And do you then read the threads about said show, and write down possible ideas for the future? That would be cool if it were true.

Yes. Movies and Television.
Yes.
No. Most of them are terrible and the non-terrible ones are ones we either already have on the wall, or dismissed for other reasons.

And update...

I doubt there will be a strike unless shit went REALLY sideways the last hour of talks. At worst they will push our contract for a short time to continue talking. 24 hour increments I think are the only timelines being talked about at this moment.

This Deadline article is doom and gloom but I got me an "anonymous source" (lol) that says it's not that bad.

I've got this idea for a super hero movie. But you see, he's a gay super hero. And he's got a 13 inch dick. And he just runs around town sucking off random dudes in bathroom stalls.

It's less of a drama and more of a porn. But I think netflix is ready for that.

We could do the whole thing with found footage, if that helps.

Is there found footage porn? you might be onto something.

Actually a little worried now. Getting two different reports that talks are fine, but also got a last minute email from WB that "any picketing on site will be met with pink slips".

Anyone going to fault me for having a drink or 10 tonight? Doubtful.

Back to the grindstone for you, slacker.

Indeed. Funny part is, I managed to get two drafts out before last night ahead of schedule because I wanted to at least keep the production staff employed with material in case we did strike, so now I have fuck all to do for a week and a half other than revisions and phone calls from the on-set producer.

Here's my pitch, Scream.
A story about a baseball team that embraces Satan goes on to win the world series. All these other teams and athletes thanking god and junk are losing. Team that worships Satan dominates.

That writers strike really did destroy some shows.

Anything that spans that year, you can see it. Watching some old show on netflix that you never saw before? S1 was ok and even halfway S2 was ok but then it inexplicably becomes absolute dogshit? Check the dates. The writers strike happened and they scabbed it up. Then when the strike ended it was too late to salvage.

Heroes was a fucking great show. The writers strike hurt it bad. They did a last attempt when the strike was over with season 5, but the damage had already been done.

Effect of the 2007–08 Writers Guild of America strike on television - Wikipedia

Start there and work your way down. Only a few shows managed a side deal (Mad Men) and the rest are all soap operas and reality TV that came out on top.

During the writer's strike last go round Conan O'Brien's show was by far the funniest it's ever been to me.
That's because he is a great writer that crossed the picket line to keep his staff employed. Him and Stewart both did great jobs during it.
