No one likes you, you’re a faggot, and you know jack shit about proper HDR implementation. About the only thing you can comment on with life experience in is how fast you can hide the pedophile porn sites on your tablet from your husband when he comes home unexpectedly from 6th grade recess while you forgot about the sock hanging from your implanted dick.

Damn, even coming from someone who pretended for years to be an NFL player, this is sad

So your point is that because Rockstar did a shitty HDR implementation in a game 4 years, MSFT can’t implement a hardware-based, AI-enhanced HDR algorithm despite the fact that there’s hands-on reviews and footage of the implementation which are receiving positive feedback?

Also to expand on this, MS does a funny little Atmos force through as well on the current X. For audio tracks not propagated to take advantage of Atmos, it’s useless. It just passes everything and the kitchen sink through as Atmos. Even if it’s a 5.1 track.

I get the feeling you have no idea how the technical side of this works and you’re just ass-pulling wild PS5 fanboy sound bytes you picked up on Reddit.

Actually I’m more pissed at Sony. They skimped on vision and Dolby altogether so they wouldn’t have to pay licensing fees, developed their own 3D audio system, and at launch aren’t supporting any 3D spatial audio on anything but headphones at launch. (Seriously. News just hit today or yesterday) But they have the games. Hands down. Either way more people should be calling Sony’s ass as well.

Well yeah, when Sony decided they didn’t want to pay Dolby for Atmos compatibility they basically pushed the cost of their “3D sound” onto the consumers.

Not really. Prices are the same. The problem is they are pushing an audio codec war they can’t win and on top of it cannot even deliver 3D sound over your receiver and speakers at launch. Headset only. On the flip side, MS’s games line up is so fucked from a 1st party perspective they are spinning every other feature in the book (some in good ways, others are shit marketing ploys like this HDR fiasco).

Sony has the games and the talent in development, however, and that’s all that’s going to matter in the end.

Peoples existing stereo receivers and headphones aren’t compatible with Sony’s 3D sound. So yeah, they’re absolutely pushing the cost onto them by forcing them to buy new hardware that will be compatible rather than licensing Atmos which has tons of existing support. At the end of the day, it comes down to Sony not wanting to cough up the money to Dolby.

Existing headphones are compatible. It’s software based. It will support receivers just not at launch.

But yes I agree, it’s still horseshit.

Correct because they are doing nothing more than altering an SDR source without the proper metadata behind it. I would say the same thing if this was Sony saying it by the way.

But MS is almost always full of shit so it gets a little extra discourse.

They don’t have the games, they don’t have the market. So while I won’t fault their attempts at the smoke and mirrors bullshit they play to distract everyone from that obviously painful fact at this point, it doesn’t do anyone any good to not call out their bullshit either.
Rockstar didn’t even claim it was trying to do in RDR2 what Microsoft has already shown it can successfully do with the Series X. Microsoft’s approach may not work in the end (though the reviews so far say otherwise). But if it doesn’t work, it is absolutely 100% NOT for the same reason RDR2’s HDR didn’t work.

The whole thing reminds me of 3D movies before that fad died out, as in the difference between the ones shot with actual 3D cameras vs. the ones where it's all done in post. There were plenty of [possibly blind] people who thought post-process 3D looked good too, so I'll wait until I see this magical HDR myself to judge it. I hope it does work though, since you do come across a AA game now and then that looks good visually but they just didn't take the time/money to implement HDR themselves.

I don’t think anyone expects auto-HDR to deliver the same results as a full on rebuild and remaster of a game. The question is just can auto-HDR add some visual zest to older gen games and add value to owning a XSX. And the answer is yes.

I'd be looking for someone like Richard Leadbetter for those types of claims, particularly before the release

Well that's good news at least. I already have a 1TB SSD on my X1X that is USB 3.1 Gen 2. Hopefully the performance is equivalent on PS5, since I kind of doubt I'll need more than the internal storage on the Series X for a long time and there's a lot more BC games I'm likely to play on the Sony side of things.

Red ring of death, inc?

That article is a few days behind the times. This story was started by people who think heat coming out of a console like Series X means there’s a problem.

The article cites two sources, here’s the first calling the issue fake news:

Here’s the second saying he disagrees there is a heat problem:

And here’s a far more reputable journalist saying the heat isn’t a problem:
