I was 7, it's literally the first film I have a memory of seeing in a theater. Although I'm sure my grandmother took me to some number of disney films when I was a wee Haus, don't remember a single one. Star Wars, OTOH, was etched into my young brain....
You're lucky. Terms of Endearment is the first one I remember. Lotta negative trauma around having to sit through that one.

I remember seeing Rocky in the theatre it was kinda wild to see grown adults cheering in the aisles, I never got to see star wars back then, I guess it wasn't violent enough for my parents lol

I don't even remember how I saw ep4 and 5. I don't think I was old enough to be going to the movies. I only remember seeing jedi in the theater. It's likely I first saw them both on VHS just before Jedi released.
Our group was the 1st in line for the 1st showing of Empire, that I recall.

First "serious adult sci-fi" book was Starship Troopers. All because I had a TRS-80 color computer and got this game :

First SciFi movie was Star Wars... On opening day... at Northpark I.
Starship Troopers was my first too! I had broken my finger in 5th grade and my dad came to pick me up and take me to the hospital, but we had an hour to kill so went over to the library. I found the sci-fi/fantasy section and was browsing through it with my ring finger off at a 45 degree angle, which got me some strange looks. I also picked up A Wizard of Earthsea, so I got my first sci-fi and first fantasy at the same time.

We also stood in line for Star Wars on opening day. I remember a few movies before that, or around that time at least, like King Kong, The Aristocrats, and Robin Hood (the one with the fox). I got separated from my mom after one of the Disney ones and for obvious reasons she freaked the fuck out. I remember just thinking I'll stand outside the doors and wait for her, which was the wrong move I guess as she and the staff were looking all over inside. I also remember getting a little chub that I didn't understand when Kong was circling his finger around Fay Wray's top.

I found out last night my 21 year old niece doesn't know who Rambo is.

My friends 24 year old son had never seen Conan the Barbarian.

My niece is a bit of a lost cause when it comes to this stuff, but I sorted my friends son out and made him watch Conan when they were visiting over Christmas.
My wife works at a school. Over the last few years they’ve had newer, younger teachers brought on. When we went to the holiday party, I had some kind of discussion with one of the teachers. I said something to the effect of “I haven’t watched basketball since the Jordan era”. She looked at me confused. I said “you know, Michael Jordan”. She just looked at me blankly and said “I don’t know who that is”. Wtf

This gave me a "sensible chuckle" but then I realized, in my whole life I have never once taken an antacid..... And I eat like an 11 year old at Cici's...

I have one of those old old school can openers that folds out and is a spike that you slide around the can. Then you slit your wrist with the jagged edge of the can and the tin top. I'd throw it out but you know, fallout end of the world shit I may need it.
