God damn dude, people still get Gout? I thought that was like some revolutionary war shit.
My brother gets it regular (so did my late FIL) in both cases their diet was garbage. Neither will eat a vegetable unless it's a fried potato.

My left foot started swelling on Sunday, by last night I was in screaming pain and couldn't walk. Hobbled to the doc-in-a-box this morning. Gout :(
Welcome to the club, I'm going on 13 years with it. I take 300mg of Allopurinol daily and it keeps me basically flareup free.

Don't think red meat is a problem, is it? I think it's usually from eating too much deli meat.
Fish/Shellfish, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Red meats, Pork, the range of what triggers gout changes per person. For me it was shellfish. I can't eat shrimp or crab or anymore. I was basically raised on shrimp

Nuts like Almonds and Sardines always set it off in me. For some reason shellfish doesn't do much unless I pound it for a week straight.

Yeah i don't really fit the profile for foods, but part of it can be genetic. My grandfather had it but noone else in the family so i guess it skipped to me? :emoji_trophy:For the last 3 months i've actually been eating good i guess. Been on the Factor delivery meals. I've lost 15lb and most of the meals are chicken. The only soda i drink is the occasional can with lunch if i need an afternoon boost. Otherwise it's water or iced tea. I haven't had a drink of alcohol in just over 2 years. (personal choice, i blaze every day) The trigger may be related to dehydration?

But seriously, it was screaming 3a pain thinking about what to do if you never walk again cause you're about to crawl downstairs to find a hacksaw kind of pain. Fuck me. The meds worked quick though, but 30 hours later i still have a little swelling and pain. Couple more days i gather until done.

Weight loss + dehydration can trigger it, yep. I was roofing when mine flared up the first time.

My grandpa was also the only person I knew who had it, but he only had 1 flare up his entire life so who knows what caused it. I'm on the worse end of the genetic lottery I guess.

My uncle gets it a lot. I don't know how he is alive, he's rounder than he is tall, and red-faced with super high blood pressure. His doc makes him drink cherry juice. I actually like the stuff, and occasionally buy the Knudsen cherry juice at the store.
