It's going to be the MSQ that's the hurdle, especially the 2.0+ stuff leading up to Heavensward. That stretch is brutal. I found the MSQ stuff for Heavensward and Stormblood pretty decent.

Wife bought this a little while back and I got around to watching it. It seemed pretty generic? I didn't actively dislike it, but it felt it to be of the caliber of the entry origin stories like the first Thor or Captain America. Enjoyable, but not "holy shit, that was transcendent".
