Its gonna be so good, I just wish PC release date sooner. This game is going to blow open this genre outside of Japan. I never understood entirely how I couldn't get my most hardcore coop gamer friends into more monster hunter in general. But its pretty remarkable how few people in the west would tolerate a N3DS I suppose.
Edit: Pretty cool the mantle that allowed wind to drag the player up a seeming one way fall (in older titles) That's a really nice change if there is now a way to situationally navigate back up big drops.

I hope that a ton of shitters don't join the community and make it like every other community out there. I expect some growing pains at first. Luckily over my time of playing MH I haven't encountered too many douchebags. The occasional person leaving after they get their urgent quest done but not much else.
Has there been any mention of urgent quests or changing how urgent quests are completed? I hope something is changed for the reasons I've said already.

There's always going to be the min/max assholes in these games but whatever..
It seems that quests are more open ended, with being able too drop in/out of them on the fly. We don't know how the system works yet, but 16 people can be in the "lobby" area.

Monster hunter community - you don't need to rely on them for anything. The game really is way more about making acquaintances like any coop multiplayer game. To say its the fault of the community at large is to just not put in the minimal effort to find like minded or tolerable people for whatever peeves you out. This is a single player coop game, you need to rely on outsiders about like you do in Diablo. It can scale up your kill time and give you some really fun combination opportunities. But you can also just go smash stuff on your own. I'm certain you can lockout drops in and restrict them to friends only at minimum.
In the sense you do not compete against other players, the main thing that happens is that people who make mistakes or who really aren't that good that end up in your lobby and cart you out. But you don't take pubs into hardcore top end raiding in mmo's either without expecting some wipes. All the same you can have some very competent players drop in, just make sure you friend them. The drop in mechanic will allow a lot more opportunities to continue to hunt with people you add - in previous titles you'd have to sit around and wait for a lobby to open or plan in advance. Now that you can just jump in - its removes an enormous barrier to playing again with positive experience randos. There is probably no monster in this game that we won't see solo'd by every weapon in some ridiculous time.
If I didn't have to invest in infrastructure to play it on ps4 I probably would buy it twice out of impatience. I hope though, That PC release is sufficiently close in time.

Seriously. I got rid of my consoles ever since I started using steam link for when I want to get my couch gaming time in. I'm hoping DOS2 tides me until Destiny 2 gets PC launch which then tides me until this releases on PC.

One problem with that.
Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, and The Last of Us are three of the best games I have ever played, and Steam Link isn't helping me there.

There are good games, I just have to chose my weapon of choice. And the PvP games on PC - and the experience are just magnitudes ahead of console. Be it Dota/League/Quake/Overwatch/CSGO/Starcraft/Rocket League. My hope is that in the future, maybe even next gen, PC will be too cost effective to port last gen exclusives on to that it will just make business sense to get it done. In that way, maybe I can then play those titles, even if a little after their prime. Otherwise I'll just be forever sad.
Capcom - of all the more traditional console companies - has a much better track record of decent ports on steam already than any other I can really think of.

I've never even heard of Horizon Zero Dawn so I'll take your word on that, but I'm pretty bored of Uncharted/Tomb Raider/Infamous/GTA etc style games.
I did enjoy The Last of Us but if I never played it I don't feel like I would have missed out on anything.
Until Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo allow more games become cross platform I doubt I'll buy another console. We know the tech is there and publishers are willing so they just need to work out how to split the $$. I probably have a few grand poured into digital market items from xbox/psn/nintendo including multiple copies of the same game from trying to play with friends that can't afford or won't go multi console.
Keeping myself tied to one platform that will probably be the de facto for PC gaming for the bulk of my lifetime is just way more convenient for time/money even with the loss of an exclusive game here and there.

I loved Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 4. 4 was the best for me. Has a fantastic story with outstanding character building and a tie in to the others in the series. hard to compare it to the latest Tomb Raider though - because I really loved both. Uncharted is more of a cover shooter with parkour elements and heavy story/interaction a few puzzles. Tomb Raider is more of a fun game to actually play, with awesome tombs to raid and an in depth crafting system. (The tomb raiding itself, which is optional, is the best part in my opinion)

Uncharted is definitely worth a playthrough. Especially now that they've all been remastered, right? Just go in with your expectations aligned correctly, that the first one was somewhat of a new thing and the mechanics aren't perfect. But 2 and 4 are just really badass. 3 was good also. Characters are great and the presentation is top notch. Typical Naughty Dog.
