Wahts this nic salts you speak of? Got a link on how to and where to buy?

Nicotine River - Liquid Nicotine - Vegetable Glycerin

They sell 2 different brands of Salts now, thats new just this past week. I was buying mine VG based, but I think next time I'll get them PG. Because I found out the hard way VG will leach moisture over time and water + cotton wick makes for no capilary action and steam which is no bueno.

Nic River is a good company but they have short shipped me 2x. They made it right, but it was anoying.

Welp my Evic Primo box died and now my Smoant Battle star is fucking up. The BS is frying wicks. Especialy when batt is below 20%.

I think I may go 26650 mods and get a Geek Vape Aegis, water proof shock proof mil spec mod.

I was looking at that too. Kinda torn between that and the Aspire Speedster. They both feel great in the hand.

Welp the Battle Star was fucking up badly, hitting unevenly, burning wicks in less than a day, so I hit a brick and mortar run by a kid who knows whats what and always has the latest greatest. He cut me a deal on a Snow Wolf for $55, checked the price on the web after I split. even shipped from China they come in at $70. I fucking love that guy.

Not my taste, ugly as hell and not very ergonomic, but it fires very well and is build solidly.

I ordered an Aegis Box and decided to I want to fuck around with Temp Control so I ordered sample spools of stainless clapton variations from Advanced Vape Supply I had heard good things about them. I have never tried SS wires before. They shipped in less than 12 hrs of the order. Hopefully the Mod ships quick too.

Since I bought fancy stainless wires I wanted to start playing with Temp Control, there is a learning curve and info about it is a little scarce, most folks dont bother. Biggest thing is finding a box that does as advertised, most dont / cant. the youtube guy Anthony Vapes is the only person who is legit about it. he actually puts a meter on boxes and tests them for real. He also completely disassembles boxes to see how well they are made internally and is a big fan of Temp Control. I have a couple boxes he said will do TC well so I started playing.

Biggest thing is your coil has to room temperature before the box reads it and you set up your temp / watts. I learned the hard way and ate hot lava the first time I tried. Second go round I let my newly built coil completely cool for 10 mins. locked in resistance then played with it to find my target temp. Once I found the temp I liked I started moving my watts around to find the sweet spot of the coil performance. I found out I like .34 ish single coil (SS staggered clapton) at 350 degrees and 47 watts.

Once dialed in HOLY SHIT! You can take massive super long pulls, huge thick hyper-saturated clouds. It hits SUPER smooth, scary smooth. Combine that with all my juice I make is with Nic Salts and I am getting intense Nic blasts to my central nervous system now.

Biggest upside of temp control when it actually works is it can never Dry Hit no matter how long your puff is. It is supposed to make much longer wick life and keep your coils from fouling. Serious game changer.

I am using a Smoant Cylon for TC, works awesome. Smoant apparently makes some of the best low end boxes that can actually do Temp well.

the Game is changed.

Welp I found out today that vaping can kill you.
I have been blowing clouds so thick in my truck I can't see the road for 2-3 seconds till they break up. It can be a bit scary.
New confirmation e-cigs are way less harmful to smokers. And bystanders are safe too
When I puff out of my van it leaves a fog at intersections. People always look at me funny. Also holding a shiny mod in your hand while driving I get double looks. I wonder if it looks like a gun to all the old people?

Some crackhead beggar came up to my truck at a stoplight, I was holding my mod a little sideways, he said 'I dont want no trouble man!' and ran off. I didnt realize it probably looked like a pistol to a dumbfuck high on drugs. I call that a bonus.

Yeah Temperature Control is the name of the game, once you get it working and understand fine tuning temp vs. wattage vs. ohms, its really hard to go backwards to just firing straight wattage. You can really dial in the flavor of different juices to their exact sweet spot and take mega huge long puffs and chain your brains out.

Almost all brick and mortar peeps tried to steer me away from it, but it's the learning curve thing, they want their customers to be happy and plug n play is easy mode.

Anyone curious about it should buy a Smoant BattleStar for $39 (cheapest box that does TC well) get a sample pack of different exotic SS coils from Advance Vape Supply for $20 and spend 2 days playing around. I think youll really dig it.

FOH vapers, I need your advice. I’ve never been a regular smoker or vaper, but I used to vape (from friends’ vapes) when I was drunk. Lately, I’ve been smoking when I get drunk, just a few cigarettes because I can’t stand more cause they start to gross me out, and I always regret smoking the cigs. I’ve enjoyed vaping in the past so I figured, fuck it, I’ll get a vape and just bring it with me when I’m drinking so I don’t smoke.

I skimmed this thread and saw good things about the SMOK Alien and nic salt juice, so I ordered a SMOK Alien starter kit that comes with a Baby Beast tank and a nic salt juice. I did not realize that the Baby Beast Tank is a sub ohm tank and that you can’t use nic salt juice with sub ohm tanks. Having said all that, here’s what I’m wondering:

1) Is sub ohm vaping a good choice for me? I like what I’ve read about bigger clouds and more intense flavor, as well as having to take less hits to get the nic fix. However, it seems geared to more advanced vapers so maybe something simpler would suit me better.

2) Can I use a non-sub ohm tank with my Alien mod? I’m pretty sure I can, but looking around, it seems everything is sub ohm. Any recommendations on a non-sub ohm tank for the Alien if that’s a better choice for me?

3) I like the idea of intense flavor, big clouds, less throat hit, and more nic hit with each pull. If I stick sub ohm, it seems 80/20 VG/PG juices are the way to go. Any recommendations on flavors/where to buy them? I have friends that mix their own, but I wanna keep it simple and casual for myself for now.

Thanks in advance for any info!

1- Sub Ohm is where its at, if your arent a heavy smoker start with 3mg Juices. If you want more wallop buy 6mg. Salts vs. Freebase Nic is just extraction method. Nic Salt crosses brain blood barrier easier and wallops a little quicker harder. Advantage of salts is less Nic taste (black pepper in high mg mix) also salts dont oxidize and spoil as quickly (more black pepper taste).

2 - Almost any regulated box can run any ohms as long as you are above point 1.
Some can go lower but not many and its pointless.

3- if you are gonna run a tank with cartomizer (pre-built coils) I suggest 60/40 or 70/30 mix. 80/20 doesnt always wick great thru pre-built coil/cotton. More PG = truer flavor / more throat hit, more VG = mega clouds / less flavor.

Flavorings / Recipes is a forever game of seeking perfection. I buy PG and VG and Nic from Nicotineriver.com. Flavors I buy from multiple vendors.

At some point you are gonna want to get away from a tank with prebuilt coils because of cost. RDTAs are where its at. Like cellphones a better one is always around the corner. Currently I like the Geekvape Zeus for a beginner. super easy to build and almost impossible to leak.

So you can use nic salts with sub ohm tanks? The nic salt I bought was 35mg and it specifically warns you not to use with sub ohms. I read stuff about nic headaches and overdoses, which made me really wary.

Thanks for all the info, much appreciated!

Sub ohming 35MG will be like smoking 10 cigarettes at once.

Even dripping that in a MTL and 2 Ohms would wobble your knees.

To get bigger clouds/flavor with less of a throat hit, yea you wanna go sub-ohm with higher VG juice (70/30 to 90/10 range). I'm honestly not familiar with nic salt juices, though.

The alien should work with any tank that uses 510 threading (which should be basically all of them) you just put it at a real low wattage.

ohh.. yea, you had a really high level of nicotine in that juice. You want between 3-6mg in sub-ohm tanks, generally.

Think of it this way, the more vapor being produced (clouds) the more of the liquid you are using at once. Subohm tanks vaporize a lot of the liquid at once, which produces the larger clouds and better flavor. If you put it on a normal tank, it's not vaping much of it at once, so you can have a higher nic concentration.

Like, a regular tank vaping at 30w is 'burning' 1/4th as much juice per second as a subohm that goes at 120w. I'm vastly over simplifying it, but it's just to illustrate the concept.
So, 35mg nicotine is like 140mg in a sub ohm tank. Waaaay too much.

edit: I suck at math.

I was just telling Zappatta I’ve only seen nic salts sold at 30mg+. If there’s a 3/6mg out there, I’d like to try it.

Can’t you counteract the sub ohm power/consumption effect by just setting it to a really low wattage? The website I ordered from (Element Vape) has my kit coming with a few premade coils that recommend wattages around 50.

Most pre-made Nic Salts juice atm is super high test 25mg + novelty gimmick stuff. its a wierd fad. Slowly more companies are making standard 3-6 mg salt juices. Salts is just a better product but more expensive per lb for big companies to switch over.

so, you are gonna become somewhat familiar with basic electricity by being a vaper, if you aren't already.
The resistance (ohms) of the coil determine what wattage can be run through it. The higher the ohms, the lower the wattage needed to get it to create heat. Any coil under 1 ohm is considered 'sub ohm', since it's below (sub) 1 ohm. A .9 ohm coil is still a 'sub ohm' coil, but it's way different from a .2 ohm coil.
A .9 ohm coil might run at 40-60w range, but the .12 ohm coils I use have a range of 120-220w.

There's a minimum wattage needed to get the coil to even heat up, so you can turn the wattage down to an extent, but not totally. Also, it takes longer for it to heat up enough to actually vaporize the liquid, this is called 'ramp up' time. So, if a coil's range if 50-70w, you could theoretically still get it to hit at 45w, but it'd take a bit to ramp up and it'd be real weak clouds.

To create bigger clouds, you want lower ohm coils with higher wattages. There are various reasons for this, and the surface area of the coil factors in, but one of the main reasons is it heats up quicker.

It sounds like you should just get some regular high VG juices, figure out what flavor you like, and stick with that for now. Salt nic stuff is relatively new, and seems more for experienced vapers that are looking for a specific thing. I don't know anyone that really uses them regularly at my store, for example.

Only thing I can add to this is finding what 'temperature' of clouds you like. And each juice is different as far as temp = taste sweet spot. I was really big into cooler vapes, 0.4 ohm @ 35-40 W ( low 3s volts ). But I was using high resistance Nichrome Framed Staple coils which are massive surface area i.e. major flavor producers. Now that I am doing Temp Control I am using lower resistance Stainless FS coils and enjoying a much warmer vape at around 4 volts.

As a general rule 3.25 - 4.5 volts is the window you should be playing with.
