Was a blast in DSO and Aol"s NWN (shrugs). Plus I think the PVE aspect of these games are really secondary anyways.

Personally I"d rather see the tri-class make a comeback. If you cant fill all your group needs that way then you never will. But please oh please Curt don"t continue this "needed" healer/tank system because as for me I refuse to get involved in another game that forces me to waste half my...

Listen if people are going to log off they are going to log off. It does and will always happen regardless. That"s why I hate long instances. They should be designed for 1 hour to 90 minutes tops, and if you want more depth break it up like they did with scarlet monastery. But this is another...

Baloney, I pug all the time too and you aren"t doing 5 man bosses without the 2 pures easily and you know it. You can get away with non heroic instances if the paladin for example is actually protective with solid gear but so few are. And you"d want that feral druid not the balanced one. But any...

Sorry Twobit, going to have to disagree with you there. Both EQ and now WOW are both games tuned around 2 specific classes, and because of that it makes casual grouping and advancing extremely difficult. Many people simply don"t want to waste hours of their time lfging for certain classes. They...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Exactly. And it really goes with how EQ evolved and how WOW is now evolving. Many think EQ from Kunark forward, but pre Kunark EQ didn"t have any really required group classes (tho once enchanters got clarity they became so sought after). WOW was really the same too when it first came out. Yeah...

Know wtf you are talking about before responding. NWN (the FIRST real MMO) and Darksun Online (the precursor to EQ and which EQ copied alot of) were never tank/healer centric. DSO characters for example were tri-classes. Even EQ wasn"t that way until it came out with its expansions. Where do you...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

That"s a stupid retort. If people followed that there would never be change. There were many games that never used the tank/healer model. IMO it is that tank/healer model that causes players more grief than anything else. Can"t tell you how many times groups fold for a lack of either one, or how...

Get rid of the dam warrior and healer. I am so sick of them. That is all you ever see people asking for, "need a healer" "need a tank." People waste more time trying to find one of those 2 than anything else. Design a dam game where you just don"t need these two classes anymore. Actually EQ was...

So Curt, remember 2 things regarding Bond"s lawsuit against you: 1)Truth is a defense (and man does he open the door here against himself) and 2) he has to prove damages (good luck for him there since nearly the entire world believes he used steroids).

Never would have guessed it that way. Was always saying "EN gruk" in my head whenever I saw it. Oh well

12 ingame races is alot. That presumes more than a few starting areas, hence high expectatons in subs, otherwise there may be alot of ghost towns.

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

And this is why I just don"t raid anymore. With small groups, you actually play the game. With these large raids in WOW, you really don"t. My feelings towards mods are pretty much the same as Curt"s, so not going to repeat those.

You know this is pretty much the main reason why I leveled up alot of alts in WOW, mainly for the tradeskilling. In EQ I did have a couple alts, but was more for having fun with different types of classes; although I did have a tendency of rolling up a new ranger whenever new servers opened...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Me, I"m an alt freak. On malfurion I have 5 level 70 Alliance characters and 1 level 70 Horde. If you are gouging your eyes out in the teens, then nothing is going to matter for you since it only takes a few hours to get there anyways. It was no different with EQ. You still were doing the...

Oh yeah I"d own you at the plate , if only I could swing a bat heheh. Tho, thankfully, you didn"t say gnome mage. And oh sheesh ya on my server lol. And hint, if you ever roll an alliance there and you see in chat someone with a name ending with "stain" just put him on instant ignore.

Hey Curt, just curious, what race and class are you? Somehow you strike me as a tauren Shaman heheh.

Irony is that has always been the case, the top dog just changes. When EQ was "king" how many times did people say about new MMOs as potential EQ killers. People would try, realize EQ was still the better game and went back to it. Finally when WOW hit the market, it really was the EQ "killer"...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

I agree with you 100% there. It had it"s time, just isn"t now. Would also agree that it was a milestone game, as was WOW, and as even is the WII console game.

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Well if you want to go negative inference, but I already said that. I said who the hell knows what would have happened. But you still miss the point, there never would have been a WOW clone to begin with to compare. If WOW never existed, you honestly think a WOW type game would have been made...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

I did catch that comment of yours twobit heheh. But as for whether a generic MMO doing what WOW did, I just don"t think so. We EQers are a different breed than the Bnet crowd, where the large growth came from. And that growth was a play right off WOW"s already existing franchise. As for SWG...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Not playing a hypothetical game at all. Basing it off of what exactly happened. WOW had an existing popular franchise game. Tons played it and Starcraft off Bnet. WOW targeted that market. They turned their EXISTING, highly popular game into a MMO. And they did it in a polished fashion. Perfect...

It is if you spend 30-40 million dollars to produce the game in the first place heheh.
  26. M

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

You are missing the second point of what I said. The game could NOT have been made in the first place without it having ALREADY EXISTED as it did. It would have been some totally different game. Or to put it another way, it isn"t a question of hey let"s make this MMO and call it WOW, it is a...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

That kind of goes without saying Twobit. Certainly if the game sucked, it is going to fail no matter who made it.
  28. M

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

What is the biggest description you always hear about the WOW playerbase? The BNET crowd. And what were they playing? Starcraft and Warcraft. Think that helped box sales? Of course it did. Is WOW in and of itself a well made game. Yup, but it could not have been made if WOW never had a PAST to...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Cad that isn"t an answer. No one is suggesting that they don"t have individual talents. It isn"t a question of raining on anyone"s parade, especially since no parade is passing yet. But to slam discussion simply because it isn"t pom pom? One thing I am not is a hypocrit. If they produce a...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Come on Req, I"ll give you your opinion if whether you think name recognition is important or not, but those guys have made ZERO MMOs as a team so far. And there is simply no other MMO out there that has even come close to WOW"s. To suggest that WOW boomed as it did without name recognition is...
  31. M

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Never said it meant everything. And you can certainly screw it up like SWG. But it sure does help. And I bet if you polled the WOW player base a large majority knew or played its games prior to the MMO.
  32. M

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Yeah but you are talking about a nonexistent game then. It"s easy to say "what if game so and so was so great everyone praised it?" But that is make believe. When you compare ALL the MMOs to date only one had numbers that knocked your socks off, namely WOW, and that is because as I said they...
  33. M

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Well WOW numbers really are misleading. Last I saw it was 2 million in US and about same in Europe. It" hard to factor Asia since they do the whole cafe routine and that can muddle true numbers. So is there plenty of room to grow? Yup. I guess the next question is do we really want it to grow heheh.
  34. M

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Well I assume they are in it for the long haul. As I said, why the rush? Plus you can work on both, and hopefully the RPGs are producing you additional income.
  35. M

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Well I said this before, Salvatore was a good catch mainly because you have a quality author who can write up a quality story and that story is what you should develop a following off of through a series of polished RPGs. Assuming success, you now have a solid foundation for a MMO imo.

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Curt, I am not referring to just experience on individual levels. I"m talking as a "product name." WOW had it"s following off of its name. Same as AOC, WAR, Lotro. I doubt if anyone would taken those games seriously without that (tho WOW is just such a well made game they probably would have...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Come on Cad, while I am not trying to put the jinx on Curt"s company, they really are heading down a tough road. Get your feet wet first. Build a following. There"s no rush. While they have people with experience, that doesn"t mean they have a product history to work off of. WOW clearly did. AOC...
  38. M

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Goes back to what I suggested earlier. You are hitting the tough road right off. Build some experience and history first with console/pc games. They are a heck of a lot cheaper to make, you can start developing a following, and you can actually start making income off the sales. Jumping fresh...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Actually I often find the early levels far more entertaining than the end levels. Found that to be the case in EQ, WOW and LOTRO. It is at the end that I get bored.
