    Camelot Unchained MMO

I agree with UT usually in a general sense, especially about the state of the industry as a whole. Just amazed at the amount of energy he can put into it.

    Camelot Unchained MMO

Gonna love watching this thread just for the epic amount of hate UT and Denaut will pour into it. Never really understood the need for people to spend so much energy trashing games they aren't interested in. I personally dislike WoWstar but I just avoid the thread, have better things to do with...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

Mark just pumped in 2 mil of his own money and another mil from outside investors. The paypal campaign is going on now, so probably 5.5 to 6 mil total. Not nearly enough for a finished product. Going to be interesting to see what he does with that amount and what it will take to finish it...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

A lot of games have been funded on kickstarter with far less than what Mark has shown. The kickstarter / finisher point is valid. The whole truth is that some people either don't trust Mark Jacobs or kickstarter (or maybe they just don't like RvR). Those are valid issues and if people just...

    Camelot Unchained MMO

People are against it just because it is Mark Jacobs at the wheel, they rationalized their reasons after the fact. If it were their favorite dev (whoever that is) they would be all in. The actual facts of the kickstarter don't really matter. Of course their isn't much to show for it, like...

Denaut, most people here actually share your concerns. But there just isn't any other horse going in the direction that the RvR PvP crowd wants. So they have to saddle up with the one that is available. If you think you can do better then PLEASE by all means do so. We will back you in a heart...

I agree with that. But SWTOR's fall should make us wary of EVERY mmo coming out (most of us are). They had even more going for them than WildStar.

No he's a dev doing other things, not mmos. I worked in the industry for a time back in the 90's, doesn't make me an expert.

But it's also true of almost every kickstarter, election campaign and lottery. People are paying (or voting) for their own hopeful projections. Denaut's statement is just an obvious truth about human nature that most children are aware of. On this board every mmo that comes out some people...

30k to go. Had over 100k pledged in the last few hours. Should meet it's goal in the next hour or so. Now onto the next big test, they need real money. Even if Mark puts in the 3 mil he promised, they still need a lot more than that to make the game. Going to be fun to watch this train.

Lol, you are repeating my own words and then claiming I am victim to them. Nice try. But all that is apparent from your post is that you really, really hate Mark Jacobs.

    EQ Never

Sign me up. Doubt the investors would buy into it though. Even the devs who made Dark Souls were surprised by it's success. I think a mmo version would be successful but I'm not a big dollar investor.

    Camelot Unchained MMO

Well if somebody else were offering even a hint of what MJ is promising then you might get your wish. But as it is, the PvP RvR crowd is desperate, so they will back just about anyone who promises what they want to hear.... Hope always sells. That's why you hear it every election.

    Camelot Unchained MMO

As I said before, it's typical of kickstarters to get most of their funding at the beginning and end of their campaigns. Not sure why that is. Yesterday morning CU only had about 10,200 pledges, now they have over 12,000 and climbing fast. So the idea of "hidden investors" pushing the numbers...

    Neverwinter: PC

You both have valid points. But the IP really isn't that important when it comes to the eventual success of an mmo. SWTOR and LoL are very good examples of that. SWTOR's IP is the top of the bunch but it couldn't make SWTOR a top mmo. And LoL didn't have any IP presence before the game came out...

EQ also pulls in a different type of player, especially now considering it's age. It's mechanics and world space are not as action oriented so the ADHD crowd usually go somewhere else.

Kickstarters typically get most of their pledges at the beginning and end of the campaigns. A couple days ago it didn't look very good forCamelotbut things are picking up. Still going to be tight though. I hope it makes it. We need more variety in the mmo space. Way too many WoW clones...

Haven't played the game yet. Watched the show, liked the first one but the second episode was meh. Already too predictable. So much Politically Correct ANGST, so tired of it. The show might get better though, so I'll keep checking it out. And it does make me curious about the game. TRION was...

Curt lost a lot of his money. No one doubts that. Getting bent over two news reports that happen to differ on the exact amount is starting to make you look a little whacko. And anyways, this is old news now. The game wont be made and Curt is a laughing stock. You won. Celebrate your victory...

King has a point but it will not happen here again, at least not as an official policy. It goes against everything we stand for. Profiling works very well, Israel and other countries use it to great effect in their airports etc.. And we did it in WWII with Japanese Americans. But our current...

Nobody thinks that. But most people understand that if he did have the power then Obama would cut out the Second Amendment altogether. Fast and Furious wasn't a shining instance of US government competence, and there are any number of other examples. Stupidity rules most bureaucracies, that's why I rarely listen to government conspiracy nuts. But as you say, even they wouldn't do something this clueless. The Boston bombers...

    Guild Wars 2

Culling seems fixed. Which is great, but the basic WvW mechanics are the same. Which means mostly zerg vs zerg and keep swapping. That was fun for a while but it got old fairly quickly. I think the map design is the problem, but I'm no expert. And there isn't anything that builds realm pride...

    Guild Wars 2

So true. So when Planetside 2 came around that was the nail in the coffin for my guild. It worked, it was fun and you could see your enemy. It also didn't help that GW2's WvW isn't very good for small group action, too much zerg and keep swapping going on. A big disappointment for old Daoc...

/shrug Yeah, just can't get worked up by that kind of stuff. I'll probably buy TESO and probably only last 6 weeks, just like all the other mmos, and have no regrets. Mmos are cheap entertainment. Much more bang for your buck than a single player game. Am I the worst kind of offender...
