Didn't most people leave this game in a few months, then server merges now f2p ? ... I call successful a Climbing user base over time... They made a lobby game with 2 tiny cities and a linear leveling path to the treadmill. pretty weak. They copied WoW to the letter but left out copying one...

@Draegan and mkopec Great points gents.. my point is. Have they realized that copying "insert game here " does not translate into a successful MMORPG ? That is what I hope to hear from Trion as I really like them as a developer from a quality standpoint. ( shit worked ).

    Trove: Scott's Trion on voxels

Why did you launch with 2 factions and one linear path for leveling. Why did you not add factions and more leveling paths in expansions. - Wow did Why did you recycle the already low amount of content you launched with ( i.e. the advanced dungeons or hardmode ) - WoW did why were dungeons...

/agree that thing does look pretty horrible. I think the reason is Garriott is all hung up on making it playable on Ipads. ( i thought i read that somewhere ).

    Trove: Scott's Trion on voxels

The expectation is that developers acknowledge where they went wrong and then do not duplicate the same mistakes... Trion has been a company that copies something and does not innovate.. I have no intention on supporting a company like this... yet if they explained where the RIFT deficiencies...

Did anyone from Trion ever "come clean" about why RIFT was so disappointing ? That game came pretty close but I just wonder if they know why it didn't quite get there....

    Pathfinder Online

If this thing does release the only reason to play it ( which is huge for me ) is the Pathfinder system. IMO its the best one out there along with D&D 3.5 on which it is based. I can't imagine there will be anything "new" other than a kick ass system behind it.

    Trove: Scott's Trion on voxels

I thought the sandbox nature of part of the game was the draw... perhaps that is not as real as people originally claimed. Wonder if Trion is shitcanning it.

    How would you re-socialize MMOs?

When MMOs originally became popular the draw or the big deal was the fact you could socialize and be part of a larger community, working as teams and in competition with many other people... Design philosophy was anything that "could" require interaction did and we have seen the pendulum swing...

I see.. idea just came from using landmark to build worlds... as they say in their marketing stuff its about building your own MMO so to speak, with their tools and eqnext is an example of one.

Art is subjective but what WoW did was synchronize the experience... The music, animations, art design, world design, NPC design from asthetic perspective were all synchronized... and the result is simple ... Immersion. NO game has replicated that so well IMO.

Yes I agree.. i should have stated something like this. Take vanguard for instance if Vangaurd ran solidly and had content 40+ at launch and held people as it should have... with the ALTs i played on that game it would have been worth more than 30 bucks a month ( i had 2 accounts ) in addition...

If there is content enough to level that takes on average more than a month and the game is based on player interactions ( group combat and non combat interaction ) then yes I absolutely want a sub based game. Nah I get it ... main thing i really liked about the classes was the progression of each class and how they developed over time... also the mixed roles of healer/dps ( bmg, sham) or healer/tank ( disc, Cleric, sham ).. Bloodmage and psionist and bard were the top 3 development wise and...

Damage Reduction and typing was not in vanguard to my knowledge outside of magic types.. which was cool in itself but it was in eq2 especially on raid mobs. ( this was early in eq2 days tho not sure if is still there ). The cool use of that mechanic is DDO it really opens up loot in a big...

RIFT was very close to being the game for me. The classes were cool at launch before they tried to balance PVP however the dungeons were all linear IIRC ( but fun for linear, cool bosses ).
