    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Who gives a flying fuck about WoW's numbers? Citing its popularity is like arguing that Twilight popularized vampire movies. Games like EQ and UO had a substantial American following long before WoW was even a concept.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Some people simply lack the capacity for critical thought and understanding context. EQ popularized the fucking genre in the west. I cant believe some of you are suggesting otherwise. Who cares about WoW? It did nothing to improve the genre but add choreographed raids to the end of a very...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Using games like Darkfall and Vanguard to reject the notion that "hardcore" MMOs could ever succeed is just ridiculous. Darkfall was an amateur hackjob and was just plain boring. Vanguard was rife with bugs and had a host of other issues, not to mention that it was released during WoW's peak. If...

    The Walking Dead

I can't believe I keep tuning in every week. The last two seasons have been some of the worst television I can remember watching.

The Monuments Men - [Holy fucking cast!]

Any movie that finds an excuse to get that many A-list actors in the same room probably isn't going to be good. I knew this would suck 10 seconds into the trailer.

Movies that are ruined by their endings

Ok, if it's one of this hallucinations then the points I made still stand. Nearly all the shots in the final scene make no sense in that context.

By ending, do you mean the spacefaring Freddy Kruger or Cillian Murphy's closing scene?

Movies that are ruined by their endings

I don't know if the director intended the ending to be ambiguous, but many of the shots and filming techniques suggest the storm is real. There are no dreamlike qualities to the final scene. If it were indeed a dream, the shot of the wife in the kitchen is completely pointless considering a...

Movies that are ruined by their endings

Also, I thought The Departed's ending was pretty satisfying. What's better than a corrupt Matt Damon getting whacked by Mark Wahlberg?

Movies that are ruined by their endings

It's been years since watching it, but if I recall correctly, members of the crew board a seemingly derelict ship and are killed by its Freddy Krueger-looking captain. I remember that it basically turned into a horror movie near the end.

Movies that are ruined by their endings

Take Shelter is phenomenal for the first two hours. It's packed with powerhouse performances and suspense and you think it's going to be a real examination of mental illness until the final scene that shows the protagonist's premonitions are coming true. Just a complete buzzkill.

Minor car accident - now with ambulance chasing law firm

Has anyone ever had an experience with a driver who's insured by the same company? Another State Farm customer hit my car, we both gave our versions of events, and State Farm made us pay our own deductibles even though the damage to our cars made no sense under the circumstances the other driver...

Minor car accident - now with ambulance chasing law firm

    Phoney performances rampant?

Nirvana addressed this when they played Top of the Pops in 1991. The producers wanted them to mime their instruments, etc. and this is what happened. And by no means am I an Eminem fan, but I remember seeing his performance on MTV Video Awards (I think that was it) several years ago and...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Conceptually, parts of the game are appealing but it LOOKS like a game from 1999 and based on several interviews, Brad McQuaid is still unsure of the game's direction.

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

I'm a staunch supporter of older, more "hardcore" design and even I know that a simple LFG window isn't going to betray the community-building qualities of a game. In Everquest, what did you do if you were looking for classes outside of your current zone (after they implemented the LFG tag)? You...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

Casters were squishy so there had to be some trade-off. I seriously don't understand why people want classes to be homogenized. Not once in EQ was I pissed that casters could bind or sometimes solo stuff I couldn't. I could train most stuff without getting killed while a caster would die in a...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

I never played a druid or wizard in EQ and never had a problem with mobility. I'd either spend 5 minutes running to my destination or 5 minutes looking for someone to port me and I'd send them some bullshit like "Please, sir. I will pay 5 pp for a port." MMOs need to avoid the "get in and get...

    State of the Union

    State of the Union

Perpetuating these measures is just as bad as implementing them. On top of that, Obama is much more insidious than Bush. Arrow

That was easily the stupidest episode of the series. The prison that contains Ben Turner looks like a jail in a podunk town, Roy is standing a few feet from Arrow IN BROAD DAYLIGHT and can't tell it's Oliver, and the person on trial for mass murder is now running for mayor.
